Plant Power: The Humorous Herbalist's Guide to Finding, Growing, Gathering and Using 30 Great Medicinal Herbs
|
In
her book Plant Power, author Laurel Dewey cited a study
wherein over 50% of allergy sufferers reported that
drinking 3 cups of Nettle tea, or taking three to five
500mg capsules every day significantly reduced their
symptoms. Hay fever
sufferers too who start drinking 1 or 2 cups of nettle tea
daily, or take two to four 500mg capsules daily in
November and continue through April when the pollen
arrives, have been rewarded with an allergy-free spring,
some even reporting an increased resistance to springtime
colds, possible due to the high mineral/vitamin content in
the plant. However, Nettle is more than just an allergy
fighter, this mineral rich plant is useful as a tonic to
prevent or treat anemia and is valued as an anti-arthritic
herb. |
