So what's new...well, school started on August 31. MY LAST SEMESTER!! Hard to believe it's finally here! My classes are all pretty good...I'm taking PE (walking) (here I am a senior, and I haven't taken any of my PE credits - but why do we really need PE anyway???), Persuasion & Social Movements, Modern & Contemporary British Literature, Communication in Organizations, and Senior Seminar. All of them are really interesting so far...except walking, of course. My English classes are really fun, but it's been a long time since I took a "real" English class, so I've got my work cut out for me. Brit Lit is taught by Dr Wenthe, and he's really cool. I've never had him before. He's very smart and tells funny stories. (Well, they're funny to an English major. I'm sure everyone else would think they were dumb. Cest la vie - it's an English thing; you wouldn't understand :) ) Senior Seminar is going to kick my ass. Right now we're reading a book by Jack London. It's not bad, but I think the class is going to get a lot harder. It's one of those classes where we're supposed to take everything we've learned up until this point in all our studies and use it to read books. Fun, huh? For my class, we have to read Nietszche & Freud & some operas by Wagner and apparently at the end of it we're supposed to come out brilliant. I have my doubts. Anywho, along with the school, there's THE PUPPY! Her name, of course, is Raider. Sometimes she's really sweet, but sometimes I want to drown her in the bathtub. She is just a puppy, so she whines whenever you leave her alone...which is like every day. You can't even take a shower without her whining from the other side of the shower curtain. But she's a good doggy. We're trying to teach her not to potty in her bed (or in the house for that matter), but it's like we're fighting a losing battle. We bought her these little furry mice at the store - they're supposed to be for cats, but she's so small that she can't get her mouth around the doggy toys. So she's been playing with those mice like they're going out of style. I came home from work today, and I guess she was so distraught over my absence that she chewed & chewed & chewed on her mouse all day. The poor mouse was literally dripping with doggy slobber. Isn't that gross? But she's making me crazy - she never wants to sleep at night, she poops and teetees all over the house, and she makes messes. If my parents are reading this: YOU ARE SAINTS. GOD HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HEAVEN FOR YOU. I'm just now beginning to realize what a pain in the @$$ children & pets are. On a much different note...I have found out that HBO will be airing a documentary on the Chernobyl disaster next week. I urge all of you to check your listings for this show & if you are able, to contribute money to this worthy cause. More information about it can be found on HBO's website. Have a good week!!
