"WOMAN'S BEAUTY" |
FROM THE POETRY COLLECTION OF SUSAN KAHON |
LOTS OF THINGS MAKE UP A WOMAN HAIR, LIPS, COMPLEXION FAIR BUT ALL OF THIS MEANS NOTHING IF THE SOUL AND HEART'S NOT THERE.. BEAUTY FADES, THE OUTER KIND A WEARINESS SETS IN, IN TIME.. BUT GOLDEN THOUGHTS INSIDE OF HER REMAIN, AND MAKE HER SHINE SHE SEES HERSELF AS YEARS GO BY A LITTLE "LAUGH LINE" TWINKLES IN SURPRISING HER ONE DAY WITH MIRTH AS AGING GRACEFULLY BEGINS A MOTHER LOOKS AT DAUGHTER, FAIR SHE SEES WHAT SHE HAD BEEN.. WITH COLOURED CHEEKS AND LIPS THAT BLUSH LIKE WHEN SHE FIRST, WAS JUST A TEEN REMEMBERING A LOVE SO NEW BLOSSOMS IN HER HEART, THEY WERE.. THEY'RE FADED NOW, BUT TREASURED STILL THE MEMORIES REMAIN WITH HER INSIDE HER HEART A YOUNG GIRL DWELLS SHE STILL FEELS PASSION FOR HER MAN SHE THINKS OF HIM WHEN HE WAS YOUNG WHEN FIRST HE ASKED HER FOR HER HAND AS TWILIGHT DIMS THE PASSING DAY SHE KNOWS THAT BEAUTY DWELLS INSIDE AN OUTER SHELL MEANS NOTHING IT'S JUST HER FOOLISH PRIDE LOTS OF THINGS MAKE UP A WOMAN HAIR, LIPS, COMPLEXION FAIR BUT ALL OF THIS MEANS NOTHING IF THE SOUL AND HEART'S NOT THERE.. for MOM Searose.....Here is your poem.. written by Susan Jane Kahon..December 12, 2001..6:12 pm |
