DEED:  Hendricks County, Indiana  Thomas and Mary Littleton to David Matlock. Land that they inherited from William Matlock Sr.

This Deed was filed May 3rd & Recorded 7th 1841.

This indenture made the 31st of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-six between Thomas LITTLETON of the County of Roane and State of Tennessee of the one part and David MATLOCK of the County of Hendricks and State of Indiana of the other part. Witnefseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars lawful money of the United States to him in hand paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said party of the first part hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said party of the second part and his heirs and assings forever all of my right, title interest and claim as one of the lawful heirs and legatees of William MATLOCK deceased my immediate ancestor and which descended to me by his last will and testament in and to an undivided tract of land bounded as follows (viz) the East half of Section Eighteen Township township (second township crossed thru) Thirteen North of Range two East containing three hundred and twenty acres be the same more or less lying and being in the County of Morgan and State of Indiana. To have and to hold the above above (second above crossed thru) described premises hereby sold and conveyed unto the said David MATLOCK his heirs and assigns forever together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to his own proper use and behoof and the said Thomas LITTLETON for himself his heirs executors and administrators the aforesaid lot or tract of land and appurtenances to the said David MATLOCK his heirs and administrators against claim or claims of all and every person whatsoever will warrant and forever defend.

In testimony whereof the said Thomas LITTLETON and Mary LITTLETON his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written.

Personally appeared before me the undersigned one of the Justices of said County Thomas LITTLETON and acknowledged the deed of conveyance to which this is annexed to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mention and also Mary LITTLETON the wife of said Thomas LITTLETON being seperately examined apart from her said husband and the full contents and purports of the above deed deed being made known to her she did declare that she did voluntarily and of her own free will and accord and as her own act and deed seal and deliver the said deed and conveyance without any coercion or compulsion from her husband.  Given under my hand and seal this 31st March 1836.

To all to whom these Presents shall come GREETINGS:

KNOW YE, that in consideration of an entry made in the office of the Surveyor of the Sixth District of Number 1258 dated the 29th day of April 1812 founded on a Warrant of Number 655 Issued by Archabald Roane to Robert Patterson Heirs for Two hundred Acres of Land, dated the Second day of July 1810 the full amount of acres of which are afsigned to Robert Hamilton the entery – South 66 west 22 poles to an elm South 57 west 238 poles to a large chestnut & small black gum Shoughs corner then with that line north 65 E 256 poles to a White Oak near three Springs & Spoughs corner, South 25 E 157 poles to a black gum & Sourwood 78 poles to the Begining.

There is granted by the said state of Tennessee, unto the said Robert Hamilton
And his heirs, a certain tract or parcel of land, containing one hundred
Acres, lying in the county of Hawkins, in the district of Washington; in gravelly Valley on Renfroe’s Creek.  Begining at a beech and two White Oaks on Shough’s line said Hamilton corner below a Spring, then with the different Cources of Carters Valley Knobs north 80 East 38 poles to two white oaks South 72 Est 33 poles to a maple near the creek. South 60 E crossing the creek 20 poles to a forked Dogwood on Galbreath’s line.  Then with it north 20 East 42 poles to a hickory & two black oaks Galbreaths corner north 10 West 12 poles to two white oaks Wienegar’s corner.  Then with his line west 56 poles to a chesnut & two sowerwoods north 13 poles to two dogwoods & black gum north. 70 west 40 poles to a white oak & black oak. North 38 west 46 poles to a Spanish Oak with the hereditaments and appurtenances, to have and to hold the said tract of land with its appurtenances to the said Robert Hamilton and his heirs forever.  In WITNESS whereof Joseph McMinn governor of the state of Tennessee, hath hereunto set his hand, and sealed the great seal of the said state, to be affixed, at Nashville on the Eight day of October in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and Fifteen and of American Independence the thirty (thirty crossed thru) Fortieth.

To all to whom these Presents shall come GREETINGS:

KNOW YE, that in consideration of an entry made in the office of the Surveyor of the Sixth District of Number
2601 dated the third day of April 1815 founded on a Certificate of Number 121 Issued by Edw Scott to William Cocke for Two hundred & seventy eight Acres of Land, dated the 28th day of May 1810 Twelve acres of which aare assigned to John Shough the entery in the mouth of a hollow. Tehn south 147 E 56 poles to a beech near the branch Tehn souch 42 E 30 poles to a Elm on the foot of the Knobs. Then a straight line to the Begining.
Surveyed 5th day of June 1815.


There is granted by the said state of Tennessee, unto the said John Shough
And his heirs, a certain tract or parcel of land, containing twelve
Acres, lying in the county of Hawkins, in the district of Washington on the north side of Holston River.  Joining an entry made by Wm Bradley and an Entry of his own in Mulkey’s Gap.  Including an Improvement made by Wm Littleton.  Begining on a Spanish Oak & samll Post Oak corner to his former entry.  Then north 11 poles to a poplar & black Oak.  Tehn due west then due west 23 poles to a small serwood & two small sower Woods & hickory was the road leading through the Gap.  Then north 38 West 22 poles to a poplar on the side of the road.  Then north 10 E 40 poles a white oak & red beld.  Then No 75 west 28 poles to a hickory in a hollow.  Then south 45 west 14 poles to a beech near the Road.  Then north 70 west 12 poles to white Oak poplar & __cumber Bradleys corner.  Then south59 west 32 poles to a sour wood in a hollow.  Thence South 68 E 16 poles to a chesnutt at the foot of the ridge.  Then north 74 E 20 poles to a black gum in the X.
with the hereditaments and appurtenances, to have and to hold the said tract of land with its appurtenances to the said John Shough and his heirs forever.  In WITNESS whereof Jos McMinn governor of the state of Tennessee, hath hereunto set his hand, and sealed the great seal of the said state, to be affixed, at Knoxville on the Seventeen day of October in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and Fifteen and of American Independence the thirty (thirty crossed thru) Forty Second.

This Indenture made the Twenty fifth day of February in the year one thousand eight Hundred and five between William BRINKLY of the County of Roane & State of Tennessee of the one part and Thomas LITTLETON of the county and state afforesaid of the Other part Wittiness oath that the said William Brinkly for and in consideration of the sum of three Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid the Receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged hath and by these presents doth Grant bargain sell alien Enfeeoff & Confirm unto the said Thomas LITTLETON, his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing one Hundred acres of land lying and being in the County of Roane.  Beginning on two post Oaks running thence south fifty one east sixty two poles to a stake in Ephraim Walkers line thence east with Walkers line eighty two poles to a post Oak thence North thirty three east fifty eight poles to a stake on William MATLOCKS line thence with Matlocks line North fifteen East eight poles to a black Oak and Hickorey thence North Sixty West fifty four poles to a Stake thence a direct line to the Beginning in ading one hundred acres be the same more or less with all and Singular the woods ways waters water Courses profits Commodities hereditaraments and appertamances whatsoever to the said tract Belonging or in any ways appertaining & the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents and Issues thereof and all the estate right title Interest property Claim and demand of the said William BRINKLY his Heirs and assigns forever of in & to the same and every part or parcel thereof either in law or equity to have and to hold the said one hundred acres of land with the appurtenances unto the said Thomas LITTLETON his Heirs and assigns forever against the law for all title Claim and demand of the said William Brinkly and all and every person or persons Claiming under him will warrant and forever defend by their presents in witness whereof the said William BRINKLY hath here unto set his hand and seal the day and year above written

Sullivan County…Know all men by these presents that we Charles LITTLETON and Mary LITTLETON Daughter of William & Mrs. Anna Pickens the late, the daughter of David Bragg deceased; have this day bargained sold transferred and assigned and by these presents do bargain sell transfer and assing unto George Gammon & Co now engaged in the Warrant title to witness at Fall Branch in Washington County for and in consideration fo the sum of Four hundred Dollars to us in hand paid & the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged all the right title claim and interest we have in and to the estate of David Bragg. Deceased which interest we have and claim under the will of the said David Bragg be the said David Bragg having willed a portion of his estate to the heirs of Anna Pickens - of whom the said Mary LITTLETON is one consisting of land , negroes and other property.  The right title interest and claim of and to all of which we do hereby warrant and defend unto the said Geo Gammon & Co their heirs Executors administrators or assigns against us our heirs Executors administrators and all other persons whomsoever forever in witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 17th day of December one thousand eight hundred thirty five.
