.2 James LITTLETON born about 1798 in Tennessee to Thomas LITTLETON and Mary ‘Polly’ MATLOCK.  He died before 1870 in Tennessee.   He married Katherine ‘Kitty’ BROWN 30 December 1819 in Roane County, Tennessee.  She was born about 1801 and died after 1870 in Tennessee. 

NOTE:  (1) In a deposition by Jesse Matlock, he states that James was first child of Thomas and Mary.
(2) Moved to Roane County, TN with his parents about 1805, as a small child. 
(3) Illegitimate child by Betsey Pore (PARR).
(4) He was a teacher.
(5) Was in Morgan County, IN in 1830 for a couple of years.

COURT: 27 Oct 1819 "James Littleton who stands charged by Betsey Pore (PARR) with being the father of her bastard child appeared in open court and with Thomas Littleton acknowledged themselves to be jointly & severally indebted to the justices of this county...that the said James Littleton shall discharge and save harmless the inhabitants of this county from all costs charges & trouble whatever by reason of the birth, maintenance and bringing up said child which he is charged with being the father of by said Betsey Pore..." NOTE:  I can connect all the Littleton’s of Roane County to one another except two men:
(1) William N. Littleton.  The bastardy court case bringing charges against James in 1819 was before James and Katharine were married.  Since Thomas, James and William were the only ones in Roane County who were old enough to father a child.  A bastardy case was brought against James so I believe that William is that child.
(2)David Ragan who was born in 1851.
