- National Society of New England Women - open to women descended from one or more ancestors born in New England prior to the signing of the Constitution of the United States in 1789
- National Society of Old Plymouth Colony Descendants - open to anyone who can document they had an ancestor that lived in the Plymouth Colony between 1620-1691. This, of course, includes all passengers on the Mayflower, Fortune, and Anne
- The Associated Daughters of Early American Witches - s a National Society whose purpose is to search for and preserve the names of those accused of witchery in that portion of Colonial America now the United States of America and to locate the living female descendants of all witches who were accused in the American colonies prior to published records of same.
- National Society Daughters of the American Colonists - open to women of lineal descendant of an ancestor who rendered civil or military service in any of the colonies prior to July 4,1776. Ancestors' services must pertain to one of the thirteen original colonies which joined to form the United States of America
- National Society Sons of Colonial New England - open to men age 18 years or more who can prove lineal descent from an ancestor born in any of the present New England States of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut prior to the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
- Sons of the American Colonists - open to any male of lineal descent from an ancestor who renedered civil or Military service in any of the Colonies in American before 4 July 1776
- General Society of Colonial Wars - open to any male person above the age of eighteen years shall be eligible for membership provided that he is lineally descended from an an ancestor who during the period prior to the Battle of Lexington, April 19, 1775; served as a military or naval officer or held office in any of the Colonies

- Order of Descendants of Ancient Planters - limited to descendants of Ancient Planters (The term "Ancient Planter" is applied to those persons who arrived in Virginia before 1616, remained for a period of three years, paid their passage, and survived the massacre of 1622)
- Founders of the New Haven Colony - limited to direct lineal descendants, male and female, of the founders of the New Haven Colony. A founder of the New Haven Colony is defined as one of the free planters who assented to the Fundamental Agreement of the New Haven Colony on June 4, 1639
- Descendants of Washington's Army at Valley Forge - open to descendants of a soldier serving in the Continental Army under the command of His Excellency, General George Washington at the encampment at Valley Forge in 1777-1778
- National Society Daughters of the American Revolution - open to any woman who can prove lineal, blood line, descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence
- National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution - open to all sons of enlisted men as well as officers and all sons of other patriots who risked their lives during the Revolution
- St. George's Society Of New York - founded on St. George's Day, April 23, 1770, at Fraunces (then Bolton's) Tavern, New York City. It is a private, independent, non-profit charitable organisation. Since pre-revolutionary times, it has dedicated itself to helping men and women from the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth or the descendants who find themselves in need, trouble, sickness or other adversity in New York City and the Tri-State Area
- Society of California Pioneers - founded by pre-Gold Rush pioneers and is perpetuated by direct descendants of those who arrived in California before 1850
- Daughters of the Republic of Texas - open to women of lineal descendant of a man or woman who rendered loyal service for Texas prior to the consummation of the Annexation Agreement of the Republic of Texas with the United States of America, February 19, 1846
- Daughters of Utah Pioneers - open to any woman who is over the age of eighteen years, of good character, and a lineal or legally adopted descendant of an ancestor who came to Utah before the completion of the railroad, May 10, 1869
- National Society of the Sons of Utah Pioneers - Membership, originally, was limited to descendents of the pioneers. Today, membership has been broadened to include those who are not descended form Western Pioneers, but who hold to the same principles and ideals

regardless of kinship, and through which any woman may render patriotic service to her country
- Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War - open to any man who could prove ancestry to a member of the Grand Army of the Republic or to a veteran eligible for membership in the GAR
- Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War - Daughters and direct lineal descendants of Union veterans may join
- Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans - open to Female lineal or collateral descendants, daughter, grand- daughter, great-grand-daughter, niece, great-niece, etc., not less than twelve(12) years of age, of soldiers, sailors or marines regularly mustered and honorably discharged from the Army, Navy, or Marine Corps of the United States of America during the War of the Rebellion 1861-1865 or to wives, mothers, widows of Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War in good standing.(Not Associates) or Legally adopted daughters of Sons of Union Veterans in good standing
- Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States - open to men who are descendents (e.g., great great grandson, great grand nephew, etc.) of commissioned officers of the Union forces during the Civil War. Non-hereditary membership is also available in most (but not necessarily all) of the Commanderies
- Sons of Confederate Veterans
- United Daughters of the Confederacy - open to women who are blood descendants, lineal or collateral, of men and women who served honorably in the Army, Navy or Civil Service of the Confederate States of America, or gave Material Aid to the Cause. Also eligible are those women who are lineal or collateral blood descendants of members or former members of UDC
- Military Order of the Stars and Bars - limited to male descendants, either lineal or collateral, of the Confederate Officer Corps, members of the Confederate Congress, or any elected or appointed member of the Executive Branch of the Confederate Government
- Morgan's Men Association - open to all members of the family of Luther Morgan, the grandfather of Gen. John Hunt Morgan, and to all descendants, both direct and collateral, of those who served honorably in the Confederate States Army in the command of Gen. Morgan. Associate Membership is extended to all other persons who are interested in
maintaining Gen. Morgan's honored place in our nation's history. A special invitation is made to the descendants of the Union soldiers who fought against Morgan's Men
- General Society of the War of 1812 - open to male lineal descendants of participants in the military or privateer service of the United States. If the participant had no descendants, one collateral descendent may be admitted to the society
- Descendants of Mexican War Veterans - open to 1. lineal descendants (or collateral kinsman or kinswoman) of a U.S. veteran who rendered honorable service in the war with Mexico for any length of time between April 25, 1846 and August 2, 1848. 2.the descendant of a civilian employee of the U.S. armed forces who served during the Mexican War as a teamster, laundress, steamboat hand, etc. 3.the descendant of a veteran of General Zachary Taylor's "Army of Occupation" in Texas from July 1845 to April 1846. 4.the descendant of a veteran of Col. John C. Fremont's 1845-1846 expedition to California. 5.the descendant of a California "Bear Flag Revolt" participant
- The Aztec Club of 1847 is, in point of age, the second ranking American patriotic society, coming next after the Society of the Cincinnati. Eligibility is based on descent, direct or collateral, from a commissioned officer of the Army, Navy or Marine Corps who served in any part of Mexico or adjacent waters during the Mexican War, 1846-1848
- Order of Indian Wars - open to decendants of an officer who would have qualified to have been an original companion, or (2) if you are yourself an officer or former commissioned officer of the armed forces, you must be a descendant of any soldier, officer or enlisted, who fought in a qualifying Indian campaign
- Continental Society, Sons of Indian Wars - limited to male descendants, sixteen years of age and older, of those Native and/or Immigrant Americans who participated, in any capacity, in actual hostilities, one against the other, at any time during the period 1607-1900. Eligibility shall be based upon lineal descent. Collateral descent shall be considered provided that the ancestor in question died without issue
- Naval Order of the United States - Open to any United States citizen who has served or is serving as a commissioned officer of the Navy, Marine Corps, the Coast Guard & any other federal military maritime service of the United States or its allies & their descendants
- Military Order of the World Wars - A National Patriotic Organization of American Military Officers, Warrant Officers, Flight Officers and their Descendants, of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the United States Public Health Service (USPHS). - Order of Daedalians (National Fraternity of Military Pilots) - open to all US commissioned military pilots, regardless of branch of service, of powered, heavier-than-air aircraft who are on active duty, retired, or in the Guard or Reserve working toward Title X retirement
- American Legion - open to all those on active duty today, anywhere in the world, or have served during any eligible war eras: August 2, 1990 to today (Operation Desert Shield/Storm); December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990 (Operation Just Cause - Panama); August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984 (Lebanon/Grenada); February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975 (Vietnam War); June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955 (Korean War); December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946 (World War II); April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918 (World War I); U.S. Merchant Marine eligible only from Dec. 7, 1941 to Aug. 16, 1945
- American Legion Auxiliary - open to Legionnaires' wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, granddaughters and grandmothers
- Sons of The American Legion - open to all male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members of The American Legion. Also accepted are any such descendants of veterans who died in service during the eligibility periods set forth in Article IV, Section 1, of the National Constitution of The American Legion or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service
- National Huguenot Society - be lineally descended in the male or female line from either 1. a Huguenot, without regard to ethnic origin or adherence to any particular sect of Protestantism, who, subsequent to 10 December 1520 and prior to the promulgation on 28 November 1787 of the Edict of Toleration, emigrated from France to North America or some other country; OR 2. a Huguenot who, in spite of religious persecution, remained in France. "France", as used here, refers to any territory lying within the Kingdom of France on the date of the promulgation of the Edict of Toleration on 28 November 1787
- Order of the Crown of Charlemagne in the United States of America - Ladies and gentlemen are eligible for membership if they can prove beyond doubt their descent from the Emperor Charlemagne
