Clothes Your Grandma Used to Make!
Welcome to Our Grandma's Closet. Our favorite television show is "Little House on the Prairie" and my girls love to dress like Laura, Carrie and Mary Ingalls. My mother has been sewing pretty
prairie style dresses for my three girls ever since they were born. Prior to that she was sewing dresses
for me as a child and she also sewed my wedding dress which was Southern Belle style with
lots and lots of layers of lace. If you like you can view it here. (My mother also made the flower girl dress in the picture.)
My mother is a wonderful seamstress and she has decided
to share her skills and make girl's prairie style dresses for others. She retired from thirty years of working for B.C. Telephone and then went back to work full time at WalMart for a number of years and she has now retired. She is making these dresses and all of her labor and profits go to support various ministries in Uganda, Africa and New Beginnings in Bogota, Columbia which has a plantation in the mountains and feeds 5,000 people and provides medical care for them as well. My Mom just came back from a trip to Uganda and I have some pictures up here.
These dresses are great for "Pioneer Day", "Frontier Day" or "Colonial Day" at school. They also make great costumes for plays set in the 1800's. Your little girl can dress like Laura Ingalls Wilder on Little House on the Prairie. She will love it!
