The earliest doc'd in my maternal Winters line is ELI b. 1796 in
Jefferson co., OH.  On 1 Feb 1821, he married ANNIS ANDREWS b. 1801 in Chester PA the daugh of James Andrews ( Arthur, Arthur, John) and Margaret Clendennin.  In 1828, they had a son ABRAHAM who, in 1846, married Sarah Ann ELARTON ( b. Ross Co OH daugh of John ELARTON and Sarah Jane ?) in Crawford Co., OH where their son ELI ANDREAS WINTERS was born in 1848.

The family eventually ended up in Hancock Co., OH where Eli (2) married Samantha Crites.

Their son, Oscar Harrison Winters b. 1888/9 was my maternal grandfather.  He married Laila Mae BROWN in 1918.  Several of us have been working on this for years:  we can't find any record of WHO Eli (1)'s parents were.

I'm researching my great great grandfather Richard Winters (1845-1879).  I believe he is the son of Benjamin Franklin Winters (1820-1910) and Sylvana Cude(1825-1906).  I would like to
correspond with anyone that might have additional info on Richard Winters and or his wife Louisa Jane. Nocy Winters (the youngest child of thiers) was my great grandmother.  I have been unable to locate where he is buried.

I descend through James Washington Winters daughter Sarah (Sallie) Druscilla Winters.  She married Jackson Crouch and they begat John Willis Crouch.  He begat Jackson Henry Crouch and he was my great grandfather.  Interesting family!  I am glad to be a descendant.

Curious though, distant cousins tell me we are related to royalty.  Can you verify that?

10. Frank Winters

Looking for ANY information on my mystery ggrandfather; John Winters.  John Winters and Ellan Hope married in Phila. on New Years eve 1883 at Old St. Augustine Church. Know absolutely nothing about him. Marriage certificate states born in Scotland, was 27 when married and died prior to his third child (my gfather's birth)

     Children:
  Elizabeth Winters dob 5-1-1884 (she eventually married a John Anderson, Phila) do not know her decendents.

     Alphonsus Winters dob 4-30-1886 (his decendents are in Penna)

     John Norman Winters dob 8-19-1888 (grandpa).  He was raised by a maternal aunt "Hope"
surname, in Delaware.  Knew very little about his father.

   John Winters (ggrandfather) appears to have died possibly in May of 1888.  He has been a mega mystery for 10 years of searching.  Some believe he had brothers one of whom may have gone to Canada.  I have no idea which group we are tied into.

My ggrandfather was raised by his uncle, Elijah Winters in Alva, Oklahoma.   Elijah was born in 1846 in Spencer Co., IN (according to Civil War records).   I can't find any information on this Elijah or his sister (my gggrandmother..who was known as Grandma Ayers...from a later marriage).  My ggrandfather's name was William Henry (Bill) Stricklin.

Looking for missing grandmother.  Dorothy Chrystal Winters, maiden name Calvert.  Married to my grandfather George Clifton Winters on July 7, 1925 in Los Angeles,  California.  My father was Clifton Charles Winters born October 3, 1926 an only child.  George was born in
Pearsall,  Texas on May 14, 1896 and Died May 26, 1960.  Dorothy left sometime after 1933 and never came back to visit my dad when he was growing up.  We have one picture in existence of Dorothy which says "To my loving son," taken somewhere in Dallas, Texas.  She may have been from Texas or Arkansas.  Her father was James A. Calvert and wife Nellie.  She had three brothers Charles, Clyde and James Jr.  I found them on the 1920 census in Dallas, Texas, but have no birthdate for Dorothy, so I am at a standstill.  I don't know if she ever divorced my
grandfather or remarried.  She had to have been born around 1906.  Any connection or relation please contact me so I can fill my missing pages of Genealogy.

My ancestor was Charlotte Frances Winters, born 1863 in Cannonsville, Delaware County, New York.  She was my great-great-grandmother, and married to Oscar S. Wadleigh.  Anyway, her earliest known ancestor was Silas Winters, born circa 1770, and who came to Delaware Co., NY
in the 1790's.  His descendants stayed in Delaware County, but two of his nephews Silas Winters and Alphonzo Winters went on to Michigan.  If you know of anyone researching these lines or might have any information on them, please tell me.  I think my line came from Connecticut.

Early Ann married John Johncox in Canada  and they had 11 children.

Her father Peter Obadiah was born in 1786 in Otter Creek Vt. and died 1864 in Quebec. He remarried Helen LeRoy in 1826 after the death of Earla Bond his first wife and had 9 additional children.

My line of Winter started out in Germany and coming to the US in 1853 or 1854. Five of the family came over at one time - being Carl, Louise, Minnie, Maria and Lota. I understand that they first settled in the Chicago area initially. Carl Winter then went to Two Rivers, WI
between 1860 and 1865 where he married twice. His first wife was Henrietta Oestrech (married in 1865). Children were Lina, Minna, and Ella. He then married Emily Marquand in 1871. Children were Charles, Rica, Annie, August, Emil and John.

Can't seem to find any trace of them coming over or where they came from originally. There seems to be a lot of rumor that there was a name change during the crossing or before it.  There was also one after arrival at Two Rivers where Carl changed his name from Winter to Winters to keep from getting another Winter's mail.

Anyway, any help on Winters in the Chicago area? or coming to the US in 1853/4?

Mother was Mary, dont know grgrgranfathers name, , There were at least 2 more kids in her family, Jany and benjamin, Anything you can tell me abt these people would be great, The Winter was Mary frances and M:Benjamin franklin Davis , one or both families Indian, same for Lucy and Mary, Lucy and Willis Palmer wingo wound up with chickamauga tribe around Van Buren <AR cedar twp. crawford Cty, she died there and is buried there, Mary frances and Davis wound up Ind Terr, which was later Poteau, OK. This is 2 sides of family, .
