(aka is this dog spoiled, or what?!)

Wicket (b. Nov 87, d. 30 April 2001)
Wicket is a Shih Tzu (Chinese, trans. "lion dog"), which is to say he's a Tibetan temple dog. Supposedly, monks used to carry these little dogs inside the voluminous sleeves of their robes as (believe it or not) attack dogs!  Hardly a comparison to your average Pitt Bull, now is he! :)

Shih Tzu:  "A dash of lion, several teaspoons of rabbit, a couple of
ounces of old Chinese men, a bit of beggar, a tablespoon of monkey,
one part baby seal, and a dash of teddy bear."  James E. Mumford

Wicket Was Left Behind

I was forced to leave Wicket behind in Australia when I moved
to the United States to be with my husband.  I miss Wicket
terribly; he was my best bud all his life, and the morning I
left my parents' home to go to the airport Wicket knew I was
leaving him.  Depressed, he lay on the floor and would not even
lift his head to look at me when I came to say goodbye.  During
the weeks before my departure he would sit beside me on the
living room floor and watch as I packed and unpacked and repacked
my suitcases for the flight to Los Angeles.  He knew then that
something was up.  He would watch my hands, then look up at my face
as if asking for an explanation.  During the excitement of preparing
to be with my hubby, it never really occurred to me how much it
would break my heart to lose Wicket.

On April 30, 2001 Wicket passed away quietly after congestive
heart failure.

This page is dedicated with much love to my beautiful Wicket.
I hope you will love and enjoy him as much as I do.

Above and right:  10 weeks old.
They called me Wicket coz I had a
face like the Ewok of that name, from Star Wars.

 A Dog's Life
* by Old-N-Bold *
.
I sit on the floor and gaze out our front door,
As I watch the whole world passing by;
Sometimes I shout, sometimes I snooze,
And sometimes just heave a big sigh.
.
I have been around here for a very long time,
And I'm master of all I survey;
I'm quite sure the people here love me a lot,
For they often come to say G'day!
.
My mother once lived here, a long time ago
But she married and then went away;
But my Granny and Grandpop are always around,
And look after me, feed me, and play.
.
One day, if I'm lucky, my mum will return,
And once more fill my heart with glee;
Oh! I'd be her Rover, I'd lick her all over!
I'm Wicket, the Shih Tzu, you see!
