We Will Know that We Have Won!

We cannot let death be the victor
in this war against breast cancer.
Listen, oh sisters of this nation,
Cancer does not care what color, creed, or race.
We must all stand together
and see it through, face to face.

This disease alone
robs you of your dignity and grace;
As sisters, we must hold the hand
of one who has fallen in this race.

So lift her up, my sister,
and hold her very high;
For she alone is going to pay the price.
The stakes are high
and her pain runs deep;
There will be many night
that she will cry herself to sleep.
Her body will be damaged
and the fear of death
will always be nigh;

So pick her up, dear sisters,
and hold her very, very high.
Allow God to do His work
as we lift her up to Him
towards the Heavens in the sky;
God tells us He will not forsake us
if we band together as one.

God didn't create cancer,
but He will help us in our fight;
He will be there to help us
as we walk her through the fire;
He is there
listening to our prayers,
no ladies, He never tires.

We will shout out
our anger and frustrations to God;
Knowing, He will always
be there for us, holding out His rod.
He will strike our enemies down,
we will watch them fall, one by one;
Until Cancer is eliminated
and we will know that we have won.

My sister wrote this three months
before she lost her battle with breast cancer.  She died April 30, 1998 at the young age of 42.

Vince Gill's Go Rest High On That Mountain That was her very favorite song and she did go to rest high on that mountain.

Thank you,
