Howdy ya''ll, I'm so pleased that you stopped by.  I hope that you will surf through and enjoy all the pages of my site and come back to visit often or email me if you have comments.

I am Linda Blanken, born & raised in Ohio but have deep 'family roots' in Eastern Kentucky.  Married for nearly 36 years, my hubby, Mick &  I are blessed with a lovely daughter, Yvonne and 2 wonderful sons, Mick & Tom.  The three of them have given us a total of 11 grandchildren whom we adore.  There is Joey, William, Taylor, Tesla, Hannah, Paige, Vaughn, Aaron , Manuel & the latest additons are the twins; Ashlyn & Adrian.  God has richly blessed us with these precious treasures.

My interests & hobbies include nature, gardening and genealogy.  I began my family research over 7 years ago.  Since then my interest in it has grown & developed into almost an "obsession".  The many hours of online research inspired me to create my own site with hopes that I might share some helpful information with other family member researchers.
Check out some of my favorite sites created by my "New Kin" I found via Genealogy research.  They are delightful sites that you won't want to miss!

"Why God Made Families"

When creation was finished, each star in it's place,
God cradled the earth in His thoughtful embrace,
And knowing that there would be problems to face,
His wonderful plan came to be...
For He wanted His children to learn to be strong,
And not become frightened if things should go wrong.
So He placed in each heart a desire to belong
Somewhere they felt needed, yet free...
Then He added acceptance and patience and trust,
Love that was selfless and caring and just,
Where the questions were welcome and laughter a must...
And He called His great gift "family".

I am attempting to trace the movements of my earliest TACKETT & BLANTON ancestors as they migrated from the Powell Valley area in Lee County, Virginia and into the southeastern portions of Kentucky and the counties of Knox, Harlan, Floyd, Magoffin, Morgan & Johnson.  Many other surnames were added as these families married along the way.  I  will mention a few of them in hopes that someone might find some small clue to help you with your own research.  They are Shaver, Shepherd, Sumpter, Lemaster, Blevins, Curtis, Davis, & Fairchild.

My desire is to be able to accomplish the task of leaving my grandchildren a gift of the legacy of their true family heritage.  Warmest regards to all you family researchers out there & I wish you the happiest of hunting ventures.
