All Data on this page has been physically verified with an actual Monster XL
As this is a Very Special
Gun, I've prepared a Special Benchmark. First I'd like to discuss the Monster
XL from the Viewpoint of it's nozzles. Many erroneous reports have popped
up across the internet regarding the Standard firing Nozzle combinations
of the Monster XL. Such Combinations have been known as 8.5x/10x/11.5x,
5x/10x/11.5x, and 5x/8.5x/11.5x. The Only correct combination is 5x/8.5x/11.5x.
This was what appeared on the tested MXL, and was verified by measuring
side by side with the Nozzles of other guns. (ie: the 5x/10x/20x Nozzles
of the CPS line)
These Are the Standard Nozzles
of the MonsterXL. The Usual, run of the mill nozzles that every one uses
for battle. However, there are other "Spray Formation" nozzles that, actually,
can serve a purpose on the conventional battlefield, if not other tasks.

Now for some information regarding each of the Nozzles.

This could be used by waving the front of the gun quickly while firing to fend off base intruders. At any rate, it makes a neat Cris-Cross pattern while firing from both Barrels. Cool. |

|
|
This Nozzle is only found on one barrel of the gun. This spot on the other Barrel is the Off Position. |
|
This saves us the time of pluging a spray nozzle with putty, really. |
The organization of these nozzles is interesting in itself. No other gun before it has ever had so many nozzles. As such, I have included a diagram of how the nozzles on the MonsterXL have been organized.

THE
MONSTER QFD.
The Monster and Monster
XL both come with a special 2-Way QuickFill Device which is bigger, stronger,
and more stylish, but still compatable with the conventional QFD. This
special QFD is Highly recommended for use with the Monster Series, as the
Special QFD is not only higher off the ground to give the Monster enough
clearance to fill, but is also built to take the Immense weight the Monsters
put on the Device. The Standard Device is much too flimsy and cheap to
use with these gargantuan weapons.
Now down to the Nitty Gritty...
The Benchmark

Weapon Class: CPS-SC/Heavy SuperCannon

Performance Overview
Well, what can I say? This
thing is completely devastating. The Shot time is incredible, the Pressure
tank size is immense, the Tank is bigger than any other one piece blaster.
This thing was not only built to look huge, it IS huge. The number of pumps
are Huge too, 43 is not a pretty number. But at least after using the Likes
of the CS200 and the XXP175,
the number is not as dissatisfying. This gun performed as well as I had
expected, in some cases better. The 5x of this Monster was toned down from
the General 5x of the CPSs, as well as reduced range(but still more range
than an XP). 8.5x provided the Most power and range for all the nozzles
on the MXL, and also performed on par with other CPSs on this nozzle. Because
of the 2 Individual Pressure tanks inside the gun, the range difference
between having 1 barrel firing and 2 barrels firing was minimal. The 4-Way
Diamond Shaped "Power Burst" can serve as a regular attack nozzle, and
provides great power and range - doing the damage of the 11.5x, while using
only a bit more than 5x.
And the Biggest thing about
the Damage figures of Any Nozzle, is that Dual Barrels allow for 2 CPS
streams doing the dirty work, Spreading the water out, and doubling the
damage.
Structural Overview
This has to be the Single
most well built water weapon ever designed. This weapon was designed to
not only take its own weight, but a violent beating as well. Quite simply,
It is built like a tank. The Plastic throughout this gun is twice as thick
as what is used on the CPSs, The trigger feels thick and strong - just
the kind of trigger that a gun like this should have. The MonsterXL Doesn't
use the Standard 2-half gun design that all other blasters use, but has
multiple segments put together to form 1 massive gun. The Pressure tank
compartment is a seperate component tied into the gun, and has seams running
horizontally through it, while the rest of the gun is the normal Vertical
seam.
One thing that was assumed
when the MonsterXL was first sighted was that the Gun would be Unbearably
heavy. Guess what? It is. 20lbs full with 39"x9"x13" dimensions, this gun
isn't exactly Small. If you think the CPS2500
is Humongous(And it is), This thing is Off the Scale!
The Only part of the gun
that does feel somewhat flimsy(besides a Standard CPS-style strap) is the
Legs. I don't recommend using the legs for support while pumping it up.
At least the pump slides easy - like the XP style pumps... Unlike that
of the CPS2500, Mr. Muscle Puller...
The Legs do get in the way
while pumping, so when you go to pump, lift the leg that's in the way out
of the way before pumping. (The legs move independantly)
Basic Overview
When I first saw this weapon
I knew that I'd never get one. Quite simply because the price and availablility
would be too remote for me to get my hands on. Also, being the largest
Super Soaker ever designed, It doesn't quite fit my luck, it just seems
inachevable.
Good thing I was wrong.
I paid alot of money for my MonsterXL, money that could/should have been
spent on other things. But Honestly, I can't think of anything I'd rather
have spent that money on than this here Behemoth of a Water Blaster. Even
though I may not even use it much, favoring a lighter CPS.
As for the World Wide perspective,
nobody could have ever expected to see a Super Soaker so big that it had
legs for support. The Legs have a use though. In situations like firing
over cars to hit people hiding behind them, the MonsterXL is too heavy
to lift up and fire over. The Legs allow it to be Set down on the car and
Tilted over, valuable.
The Monster XL makes the
Perfect Crown Jewel for anyones collection no matter how large or small
the collection is. A MonsterXL sitting atop a pile of any of the other
Super Soakers looks like an Evil Conqueror sitting atop a heap of slaughtered
Foes. It makes the perfect addition to a collection even if you'll never
use it in battle.(Or even lift it Full.) You're Crazy just to OWN one.
Simply Amazing.
Personal Rating: 4.5
(Regardless of the uselessness
of this gun, I still love it.. :P )
Suggested Use: Base or Point Defense, Main Weapon, Taking over a small country.
