It was originally proposed that conventional pedigree charts would be used but it soon became apparent that these would be too combersome. Therefore, it was decided to use ancestor charts using the system proposed by Sosa in 1676 and more recently by Stradonitz. Each person is assigned a unique number (N), his/her father will have the number (2N) and his/her mother (2N+1).
Example- William E. Martin No.4- father William Martin would be No.8 (2X4), mother Lavinia Trussell would be No.9 (2X4)+1, child Milton Martin would be No.2 (4/2).
The first fourteen generations are listed here. Further generations are given in the section concerning that particular family.
