CAMDEN PALACE
by Time Out - Pics by Derek Ridgers
When,  after months of speculation and rumour, Steve Strange and Rusty Egan announced to the world that their next venture in clubland would be fronting the re-made, remodelled Music Machine in Camden,  there were many  who thought that the two had finally bitten off more than the two  could chew.  Surely it was one thing to  fill a small West End club to its limit once a week,  like they did with Blitz, Hell and Club For Heroes,  but quite another to attempt to fill a 1.000-plus capacity pleasure-dome five nights a week in the Camden sticks.
´ Most clubs,´  says Egan, ´say we´re the front room of the stars.  Therefore you should pay a lot of money to come and see us.´  ´ Steve and I have always said  ´ you are the stars´ .  Accordingly we offer a reasonable entrance fee,  good music,  a little above pub prices and ... people.  That´s the key to the Palace´s  succes - the people who turn up.
