They canīt be many more talked about humanoids on the planet at this point than one Steve Strange - and it is he who,  with a few spondulicks behind him,  has transformed the lavatorial monument  formerly know as the Music Machine in North Londonīs Camden High Street into one of  Londonīs trendiest and most talked-about night-spotlets.
I can recall the clubīs opening night,  when various persons were clamouring for entry through its freshly painted gates.  Certain cynics had more than a doubt as to its durability - just as some had made various similar statements about the entire New Romantic movement itself.  Well,  I can report that,  on my recent visit,  no less than 2.000 fun-seekers were grooving to the sound of one Rusty Eganīs high-tech disco system.
The Palace is a very,  very large place indeed and is of courious design : much like an ancient amphitheatre,  complet with royal boxes.  It has a massive dance floor, which is backed by three successive levels with bars and seating arrangements,  where one can happily rest oneīs tired torso for a while  - GAY NEWS -  DECEMBER 1983
