This route was never actually signed in the field. However, it did
show up on some maps from the earliest days of the US highway system.
It was a necessary route under the original 1925 plan, because that
plan did not have US
85 running all along the Rio Grande valley in New Mexico. But US
85 was there in the final 1926 numbering, thus eliminating the
necessity of US 466.

Allen, May 2001. This first one shows where the north end of US
466 would've been, in Los Lunas.
That's looking north on NM hwy. 314 (historic US
85). The next intersection (NM 6) used to be US
66.
The south end of US 466 would've been at US
60 near Bernardo. This photo is looking south on NM 304.
US 60 heads south from here, but under the 1925 plan it was US 466
that was slated to head north from here through Belen to Los
Lunas.
