Tour Dates
Highly influenced by Aerosmith, the hard rock band of sex, drugs and rock n' roll Guns N' Roses emerged from Los Angeles in 1985.  This late 80s/early 90s band included Axl Rose (vocals), Slash (guitars), Izzy Stradlin (guitars), Duff McKaggan (bass), and Steve Adler (drums), though many members were added and replaced.  The Guns achieved
major success with their debut album Appetite for Destruction, which included the singles "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Welcome to the Jungle," and "Paradise City."  It has sold 15 million copies and has become a gem of every rock fan's album collection.  In 1988, they released GN'R Lies featuring live tracks from their early days and four new acoustic songs including "Patience."  In 1991 they released two albums together at the same time. Use Your Illusion I & II debuted at the #1 (II) and #2 (I) spots on the charts and spawned four hit singles, "November Rain," "Don't Cry," "Estranged," and "Knockin' on Heaven's Door."  Before GN'R went on their two-year world tour, guitarist and longtime friend of Axl's, Izzy Stradlin left the band.  He was replaced by Gilby Clarke.  Though GN'R were at the height of their career making money and touring the world, problems included riots in St. Louis, anger between GN'R and Metallica, and alternative taking the scene. After the tour they released a punk cover album The Spaghetti Incident? They took a quick downfall however when conflicts erupted between band members.  Duff, UYI drummer Matt Sorum, and later Slash all left the band.  Gilby was fired.  Axl now remains the only original band member.  He and his new lineup of members are working on the long-awaited Chinese Democracy and have been performing at recent shows. Democracy should be available in June 2001.
