In 1850, Cuddington (near Northwich) is described as a small village and township, 4.3/4 miles W.S.W. from Northwich, which contains 1,134 acres of land; a bold undulating district, with a light sandy soil. In 1841 there were 52 houses & 253 inhabitants. Population in 1801, 212; in 1831, 277. Rateable value, £1,650. George Wilbraham Esq. is the principal landowner. Mr Ralph Hornby, Mr Edward Worthington, Mr Ralph Kirkham Okell, Mr Mathew Maddock, Lord Alvanley, Mr Thomas Pickton, Mr John Cartwright, Mr John Billington, Mr John Johnson, and Mr Charles Williamson, are also proprietors. The rectorial Tithes are commuted for £70, and the Vicarial for £60. Cuddington Common, containing 460 acres, was inclosed by Act of Parliament, and allotted to the several landowners, in the year 1766. DELAMERE LODGE-is an elegant modern mansion, in a singular, romantic situation, built after a design by Wyatt. It is surrounded by a park, finely wooded, and richly adorned with picturesque beauty. The mansion is the seat of George Wilbraham Esq., whose father removed hither from the ancient seat of the family, Townsend, in Nantwich.
