Weapons & Ammo
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shooting Techniques Double teaming. Say you're with a friend exploring, and then you're suddenly attacked by (enter very strong monster). Thus making you screwed, yes? Well if your friend had a bow, you wouldn't be so screwed. You see, when someone else is engaged in a battle, you can equip your bow and attack someone in the battle. It's like normal attacking, except when you have abow, you'll stand still. Then green cirlces (ammo) start flying out of you, hitting who you attacked. You take no damage, you just help out. But keep in mind that non-aggressive monsters will attack you if the person who you are helping breaks off combat. Blocking Attack. You can range without being attacked. This can be done by blocking. A fixed item could be used to block enemies. Or a player. Or a battle. Keep in mind if someone walks through the person who is blocking for you, your target could attack you. Some places to use these techniques are: Barbarian's Village: The Beer Tavern: Use the tables. Gunthor regenerates in the middle of the 2 rows of tables. Get on the outside of the tables (near the fire or near the door). Be sure to be in the center. When gunthor is in the middle, fire your arrows/bolts. He'll try and run to you but will stop at the tables if you did it right. When he dies, be sure to get back your arrows. Al Kharid: Warrior's Living Quarters: You know, the place with all the beds. There are 2, choose one. Anyway, this one is a bit harder to explain. Find a bed farthest from a warrior. Stand behind it, and make sure the warrior you are attacking is far from you on the other side of the room. Then attack. If you "cant get close enough" or if you "cant get a clear shot from there", then move up one bed. If done correctly, he'll run up to you and stop when he reaches the other side of the bed and stands still while you pummel him. Jolly Boar Inn: The Bar north of Varrock east gate: A Farmer, a Thief, a Man, and a black knight walk into a bar....and stay there for all eternity. Lots of chairs and tables here to use the "blocking" technique similar to those in Barbarians Village and Al Kharid. Be sure to kill the Black Knight a few times. Varrock south gate: Stand behind fence & pick off the guard that walks by. Dwarven mine entrance: The Cliff: Stand under or over the cliff & shoot the Dwarves on the other side - good for mid lvl rangers as it takes a while to walk over & get your arrows, so being able to kill a dwarf in 5 arrows is a bonus here. Black Knight Castle: Meeting Hall: Take an Iron Chain Mail & a Bronze Medium Helmet to the Black Knight's Castle - wear them and go in the side door, change back to your good armor & go in the next door. Now you can range here like at the Barbarian Village Pub. Falador Castle entrance: Use the moat to block as you shoot White Knights. Good for high level rangers, the faster you kill them, the more likely someone else wont get your arrows. Wild: Greators: Use the broken pillars to block & keep your health for battling the PKers who come along. |

Making bows
To make bows you first need to acquire some wood. Depending on the type of tree you chop down you can get different sorts of logs. Next use a knife with the logs to cut them into either a shortbow or a longbow. To make a bow string you need to find a flax plant and use it with a spinning wheel. Finally add the string to the bow to complete it. Rarer types of wood are harder to acquire, but make better bows which shoot more accurately. The table below lists the different types of bow you can make Fletching Table
Making arrows To make an arrow-shaft just use a knife with some ordinary logs. Add a feather to the arrow shaft, and finally add an arrow-head to complete the arrow. Arrow heads can either be purchased from the member's archery shop, or smithed at an anvil. Better arrow heads will inflict more damage, but you will require a better bow to fire them. The table belows list the different arrow types: Arrow Table
