Some Projects of my Career
Electromagnet
This is where it all started. The electromagnet was the first project I built.

Service Channel
I designed this service channel as an intern at Cardion Electronics. This unit allow service personnel to communicate over the Microwave Line of Sight radios they are servicing. This unit was designed in the summer of 1978.

Direct to Line Frequency Division Multiplex
This mux was my first design after graduating engineering school. This work was also done at Cardion Electronics. This unit allow 614 simultaneous telephone calls to be transmitted and received over a Microwave Line of Sight radio. This unit was designed in the summer of 1979 through fall of 1982.

Jammer Signal Simulator
The jammer signal emulator was worked on at Sperry. This unit simulated 4 aircraft jamming ground targets with white noise. The simulator generated two noise channels to simulate the receiver output of two ground sensors. Doppler TDOA and attenuation controls allowed various aircrft flying scenarios to be simulated. The companion cross correleator tracked the simulated aircraft. The development of this system spanned from the Fall of 1983 through Spring of 1986.

NEXRAD Weather Radar
This is the
Next Generation Weather Radar system. I Engineered the Microwave line of site radio link that allowed the transfer of RDA (Radar Data Acquision system) data to the RPG (Radar Products Generator) via a wireless T1 link. I also was involed with various receiver subsystems like I/Q detector, A/D converter and Receiver Interface assembly. This work spanned Winter 1988 through Fall 1990 and was done at Unisys (Sperry).

Radar Environmental Simulator
This system injects live video into the front end of a radar system to generate simulated threats for training purposes. I was involved in the test and integration of the analog and RF components of this system. This work spanned Winter 1991 through Spring 1991 and was done at Unisys (Sperry).

Digital Aircraft Survalence Radar Transmitter
DASR is solid state S band 22kW transmitter. This unit never went into production. I was responsible for the analog electronics, monitoring and fault detection. Work on this unit spanned from Fall 1994 to Winter 1995. At that time Unisys decided to sell out to Loral, Eventually the entire radar group was disbanded.

Bennett Contour Mammography System
After the massive layoffs at Unisys, I breifly entered the commercial medical electronics world. I designed and modified the pictured unit from Spring 1995 through Summer 1997

APS-143 Airbourne Radar
I am presently working on the APS-143 radar for Telephonics. I designed an AGC subsytem for the APS-143 (V)3. Helped design the interfaces between the system components for the APS-143 B(V)3 Ocean Eye radar.
