How it all began............
Love for Self Expression came in an early age for Marcelo, also known as "Boyet" of the " VIP Dancers" studied dancing at the age of 17 and been a school scholar for the Metropolitan Dance Theatre from 1986 and 1988 in w/c took up formal lessons & training in jazz,ballet,folk,ethnic dance. He was also involved with F.E.U.'s Annual Variations Concert led by MISS MILAGROS MIGUEL (considered the mentor of Boyet in Dancing, the mother of Chito Miguel, Rose Alejandrino and Carole Gatdula, co VIP Dancers). He started his professional career as a dancer in May of 1986 for "Superstar" show of Ms. Nora Aunor in which to land that job ,he did audition together with hundreds of applicants and was lucky to be in ,but that gig was short lived ,to embrace his dreams he later trained and joined and became a bona fide member of the VIP Dancers, the official dance group of "Vilma" ,GMA 7,a multi-awarded TV variety show of Ms. Vilma Santos on April 1988 up to August 1995 under the supervision of "Mother" Maribeth Bichara. As a VIP member, versatility is the key, Boyet have worked for several TV Variety Shows like Just For Fun, Ezzy Dancing, The Sharon Cuneta Show, GMA Supershow and Special events such as the annual Star Awards, Urian, FAP, FAMAS as well as Concerts, Films, Movie Promotions, Television Commercials, Product Launches and even Political campaigns. One of the perks he had was to travel to almost all key cities of the country as well as internationally. He was included to perform at the Universal Auditorium June, 1995 for the US show of "Vilma" in Los Angeles.He danced for almost all the Filipino Celebrities and International Artists as well to the likes of Dayanara Torres, Thalia and Julio Iglesias when they visited the Philippines. He did choreography for "Miss Sheryl Cruz on US Tour!" a huge success started May 12,1996 in LA and ended in Hawaii in July 9 on that same year through the care of Oliver Carnay. They were able to perform in Los Angeles,Pomona,Gardena,San Francisco,San Diego, St. Louis Missouri,Chicago,New Jersey, Oahu, Maui and Kauai.Boyet did Back up Singing for Ms. Sheryl Cruz in the New Jersey Fil Expo last November 1996 .That same year 1996 went to Hong Kong to perform for the Filipino Overseas workers . Dance Director Maribeth Bichara further honed his skills as a choreographer doing special dance routine for the group. When the ballroom craze started in the country, the VIP are the only one in market who pioneers the art form, thus landing the group as talents of ABS CBN 2 thru their top rating dance show "Keep on Dancing" w/c was shown internationally thru TFC and in San Francisco thru KTSF26. He also pioneered together with his close buddy Albert Dimarucut , a new concept in Debut celebration in w/c his clients are from the US and in the Philippines. Boyet Silverio was the one responsible for bringing the new Mexican Dance craze "El Tongoneo",during his performances abroad, he discovered the new dance craze (after the Macarena) last November 1996 , and the Guatemalan version of Merengue "La Punta" in June 1998 ,in the Philippines also helped in the choreography of Samba Carillo of Dyna International(VIP Dancers promoted ) . In 1999,having a working permit he migrated to the US ,and by 2000 petitioning himself, the INS granted him with a green card and permanent residency for his exceptional talent in the field of dancing thru the assistance of his lawyer Judith Foster. Upon the demand for local shows he did form the ZODIAC Dance group a mixture of young energetic dancers of different ethnicities and did shows for Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez, Roselle Nava, Jolina Magdangal, Vina Morales, AiAi De Las Alas and the Magandang Tanghali Bayan Casts. Its 2003 after a year of hiatus in the Philippines now based in the Bay Area, Marcelo or Boyet he prefers to be called MARC and his story is just beginning..... |
