This is Shiga-Cho where Allie, Jon, and I did our weekend homestays! We had a wonderful time and learned a lot. We started with the Japanese tea Ceremony! We learned how to make the tea and ate Japanese sweets! The whole time Allie and I were commenting on how cute the old monk was-then it later turned out that He was to be Jon's host family!! |

After the tea ceremony we joined in Zen meditation for 5 minutes-and that was a killer on the legs! We were then given bracelets by the monk, according to our birthday!
After the tea ceremony we did Ikebana, which is Japanese flower arranging!
Our last day of the weekend, we all met up again and did "drag net",the classic way of japanese fishing. We ended up catching a lot of fish! We then went the the "goodbye party" and watched a presentation on the Japanese drums, at lunch, and listened to a local band. |
