A CHAIN OF COOPERATION
"Education must not simply teach work - it must teach life" W.E.B. DuBois
Domain II - Classroom Environment
The Nkonsonnkonson Adinkra symbol represents (a chain) of unity, interdependence, brotherhood and cooperation.  In my classroom, I want to make all students feel important.  They need to know that the classroom belongs to them, that they are responsible for their classroom and all of its contents.  Cooperative learning will also be important in my classroom because I feel that students can learn from one another, they gain respect for one another and they learn to live and interact in a socially responsive way.  Students also learn they are part of a family, a class community that cares about each other and for each other.  We will strive to be unified in all that we do.
The classroom environment entails many things.  As a teacher I must be concerned with effective classroom management,  class rules and regulations, effective/affective learning centers, unique areas of learning  and of course how the class will be set-up for my class must reflect the diversity of my students so they know they are a part of the class community.
