March 2003/June 2003 Message from Webmaster:
I recently had a chance to speak with Michael and got a chance
to find out what he is doing now. Since leaving Mariposa and the
competitive skating circuit Michael went back to Germany and starting coaching.
There is alot of information on what's new, and I am in the process of
transcribing my interview with him. Please come back soon or email me and
let me know you would like to be notified when this site is updated.

my dog, snoopy (a white chiwawa) I got it here in Canada.
I love animals, I had a snake, water dragon, guinea

water but its expensive, maybe later. I went to a place today (the
aquarium emporium) its beautiful in there, they were feeding lil sharks with
gold fishes. It was crazy |
Favorite time of year:
Summer "I dont like
winter, In Germany its always so wet and cold. You're always cold on the rink, and
you're always cold going out, you just want it to be warm, so I just love the
summer." |
TV Show:
anything to do with animals (Discovery Channel) and Steve Erkle from Family Matters,
he’s stupid but I like him.
Shows like Pop stars, there are some sweet characters in there |

Michael started skating when he
was 9 years old. |
|
How old were you when you landed your first triple jump, which one was
it? First jump was a waltz Jump, first triple salchow (I was very
old) about 15 years old |
|
When asked who is idol is, he replied, "It was
Victor Petrenko," and now who is it? "Its difficult to say, I think
Elvis of
course hes a sportsman, not just his jumps and not just his performance, its his
practicing and everything. I think hes a real athlete, he doesnt drink, he
doesnt smoke, he works very hard. Ive never seen a man that works so
hard." |

His coach is Doug
Leigh in Canada. Michael used Dragon Heart in 1998 for his free
program and Yanni for his short. |
His favorite program
to perform is his new short program for this year, Lord of the Dance.
"It’s something special, I like it. I saw Lord of the Dance and Daniel Wiess
from the Lord of the dance Choreographed the program for me. It’s very hard
to skate but I love it, it’s different." |
Michael would like to
go pro after the amateur circuit…"If I’m good enough...then why not."
|
When recently asked
(2003) if he would perform in Stars on Ice or another kind of
tour he said he would like to do something like that. Michael loves to
perform and is a real crowd pleaser! |
Michael
collects all the gift thrown and given to him from competitions and has
quite a collection.

I had the great pleasure of
watching Michael and most of the rest of Mariposa's STARS compete in this years
Octoberfest (1999). It was wonderful to watch Michael, Takeshi, Markus and Gules compete
head to head. Michael gained crowd appreciation once again this year with his stunning
foot work in his version of Lord of the Dance. It won him 1st place! All my other fav's at
Mariposa did great too, it was hard to root for one over the other so I didn't! But I was
really glad to be in attendance for his awesome performances. |
