The Ninety-Day Mistress: Who's Who in the Cast: Martin Milner

Martin Milner (Danny Liken) who makes his Broadway debut in The Ninety Day Mistress is known to millions of television viewers as one of the peripatetic young heroes of the highly popular, long-running series Route 66. However, the role of Tod Stiles, the traveler who finds comedy, drama and excitement along the nation's highways, is only one of the many acting assignments the versatile Mr. Milner has filled in a long and varied performing career. Born in Detroit, he and his family lived in various Western cities including Denver, San Francisco and Seattle, where at the age of 10, he had his first taste of theatre in a local play. When the family moved on to Hollywood, he became a professional performer as one of the red-haired sons in the film Life With Father. After studying theatre arts at the University of Southern California and serving a stint in the service, he returned to Hollywood and starred in The Sweet Smell of Success and Marjorie Morningstar. But his screen career was temporarily put aside when Route 66 kept him busy traveling around the country to film its various segments. Eventually Route 66 led Mr. Milner back to motion pictures with Valley of the Dolls, his latest film in a twenty-one year career that has alternated motion pictures with television. Among his television appearances have been starring roles on the Chrysler Hour, Kraft Hour, The Virginian, Slattery's People, Gidget, Streets of Laredo and the Dupont Show. He has also starred on stage in Any Wednesday at the Palm Beach Playhouse, The Coconut Grove Playhouse in Florida and Melodyland in California. Married to singer Judy Jones, Mr. Milner is the father of four youngsters, Amy and Molly, Stuart and Andrew.
