| 22/05/2004 During this weekend I took a little trip to Cardiff, specifically to see Jo. It was a simple but pretty relaxing weekend which is good because lets face it we're not young anymore and going out partying all night really drains the life out of you. It was also a opportunity for Jo to hand me my overdue birthday present! I think she's on the right track now after all these years she's finally realised that i love monkeys! So she got me a bunch of monkey novelty presents! She also got me 2 ikea vanilla candles, a sketch pad, italic pen, a belt and also a wallet (which i really really like). I think Jo was slightly upset that i decided to wear my own belt out and not try out the belt she bought me! I just thought that the belt didn't go too well with my jeans i had but i think she's thinks i don't like the belt. She kept on saying "khakis goes with anything! I beg to differ, I don't know why but i've always been very particular with my color schemes when it comes to clothing! However I do have a pair of jeans in my wardrobe that would go perfectly well with the belt! We had a DVD night where basically me Nick and Jo snacked on party food and watched Stuck On You. I think the 2nd DVD was much better which was the Whale Rider! The main attraction of the trip was the cinema trip. Though there was much dispute on wat to actually see. We narrowed the choice down to Troy, Van Hellsing, and Eternal Sunshine. We decided to go for Troy! Now I'm actually a big fan of epics and Greek legends however I was told that Troy was a bit of a disappointment! And after seeing many clips of the film while working in Framestore I think i had a good impression of wat to expect. This film is pure mature Hollywood stilton at it's finest I thought. It's basically cashing on already successful element and really doing nothing much more (CG armies, hollywood romances). It really is a poor reflection of lliad by Homer. However I am glad i didn't have to pay london cinema prices to see it otherwise i would be more angry! All and all the trip was pretty cool, i got to see nick and i got to see jo! I also had a really nice meal with Jo at this Greek restaurant (safe to say the food did not taste american !!!). To all you vegetarians out there, we had this really nice vege starter, unfortunately i can't quite remember what it was! Thru -out the trip to cardiff i was experiencing a confusion of dates, i was offset by one day, very confusing! But i think i've recovered fromt his phenomenon now! |
