On this 21st day of January A D 1856 personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace within and for said County, Elizabeth MATLOCK, aged about sixty-five years, a resident of Johnson County, Missouri, who being duly sworn according to law declares that she is the widow of Absolom MATLOCK, deceased, who was a private in the company commanded by Captain William R. Payne in the regiment of Kentucky Volunteers commanded by Colonel (left blank) in the war with Great Britian declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812. That her said husband volunteered at Warren County, Kentucky on or about the (blank) day of June or July A.D. 1812 or 1813, for the term of three months and continued in actual service in said war for said term of three months and was honorably discharged at Warren County on the __ day of ___ A. D. 1812 or 1813.
She further states that she was married to the said Absolom MATLOCK in the County of Warren, State of Kentucky on the __ day of ___A. D. 1828, and that her name before her said marriage was Elizabeth Dyer, that her said husband died at said Warren County, Kentucky on the 1st day of
January 1840, and that she is still a widow, she makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which she may be entitled under the Act approved the 3rd day of March 1855. That she does not know of any public record of the marriage of herself with the deceased, but had a family record of the marriage of herself with the deceased, but had a family Bible which was subsequently destroyed record of the facts and consequently is unable herewith to transmit the name properly authenticated.
