2. Jason MATLOCK Sr. was born on 16 July 1769 in Halifax County, Virginia. He was son of Moore MATLOCK Sr. and Jane POWELL. He died between 16 October 1847 and February 1848. His tombstone has the date 29 November 1849. He died in Roane County, Tennessee. He married (1)Elizabeth 'Fannie' RAYBURN about 1789 in Tennessee. This has not been proven. She was born on 16 August 1771 and died on 27 November 1805 in Roane County, Tennessee. NOTE: These dates have not been proven.. These were shared with me a number of years ago. He married (2)Mary 'Polly' MILLER on 24 November 1807 in Roane County, Tennessee. Mary was born on 10 September 1783. She died on 22 August 1851 in Roane County, Tennessee. Both Jason and Mary were buried at Crandall Cemetery in Roane County, Tennessee. This cemetery at present day is near Town Creek in Lenoir City, Louson County, Tennessee.
NOTE: (1)March 1806, Bastary case. "Jason Matlock is charged by Polly Miller of being the father of her bastard child. Would this be Mary Jane? She was born after Elizabeth's death and before their marriage.

(5)Jason Matlock (1769 VA - 1848 TN) is probably the most well known in Roane Co. He served as Capt of his Militia Co. His children married into prominent families in the Roane Co, area. He bought land on Poplar Creek and Paw Paw Creek. This Quote from "Roots of Roane Co" by Snyder Roberts....
