…3 Mary Jane 'Jenny' MATLOCK was born on 4 October 1806 in Roane County, Tennessee. She was daughter of Jason MATLOCK Sr. and Mary ‘Polly’ MILLER. She died on 11 October 1890 in Loudon County, Tennessee. She married James LACKEY on 9 November 1824 in Roane County, Tennessee. He was born in January 1786 son of John LACKEY. He died on 18 December 1875 in Loudon County, Tennessee. Both were buried in Crandall Cemetery, Leonir City, Loudon County, Tennessee.

NOTE for JAMES: (1)James Lackey, 23 Mar 1838 ,licenses for Tavern. "Roane Co Stallion and Miscellaneous Licenses 1836-1848" by Robert L Bailey. (2)Capt. James Lackey (deceased) was a prominent citizen of Roane (now Loudon) County, and was born in Virginia, from which State he came to Blount County when a young man, and afterward located where his parents died. He married Jane Matlock, also of Virginia. (3) He served in the war of 1812, and for many years was deputy sheriff of Roane County. (4)He died in 1875, in his eighty-nine year. His widow remained on the old farm. (5)They had five sons and one daughter who lived to maturity: Samuel, Jackson, and James. (5) Son William, was captain of the Nineteenth Tennessee (Confederate), and fell at Chickamauga. Samuel was on post duty in the same regiment until the close of the war; and Jackson served as private throughout the war. James enlisted, but was discharged because disabilities. Capt. James Lackey was an active Whig prior to the war. (6) He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and became wealthy before his death. (7) James bought 320 acres near the present Eaton's Cross Roads from Sam Houston in 1834. Sam Houston was later become the governor of both TN and TX.
