3. William MATLOCK Jr. was born about 1785 in North Carolina the part that later became Tennessee to William MATLOCK Sr. and Sarah ‘Sallie’ UNKNOWN. He died November 1826 in Monroe County, Indiana. He married (1)Nancy KITCHEN 29 September 1801 in Knox County, Tennessee.  His father, William Matlock Sr., made bond.  He married (2)Sarah 'Sally' WALKER on 3 September 1803 in Roane County, Tennessee.  Sarah was born about 1786 to George WALKER and Eleanor HICKS. She died 12 March 1848 in Monroe County, Indiana.

NOTE: (1) William and Nancy had no children. Nancy must have died or they divorced... because another marriage is found for William in 1803. 
(2) First land record for him was about 1816 in Monroe County, IN.
(3) In William's will he mentions wife Sally and children.
(4) Sarah ‘Sally’ Matlock is living next to her son John Matlock age 20-30 on the 1830 census.  
(5) Sally Walker Matlock is thought to be the sister to Ephraim Walker.

George W. Matlock, whose farm lies about two miles northeast of  Bloomington, died at his home of paralysis on Sunday a week ago, and was buried at Bethel church graveyard beside his wife who died just threes weeks previously.  One of his sons, who resides in Illinois, arrived on Wednesday last in time to attend the funeral.

……5 Paris C. MATLOCK was born 21 October 1841. He died 7 June 1917 in Illinois. He died 6 March 1956.

NOTE:  Have seen where he married a Margaret Paul in 1856 but this can not be correct because he was born in 1841.  As of the 1870 census he is 28 years old and still living with his parents.

……5 Sarah Jane MATLOCK was born about 1846 in Indiana.  She married Lidge KNIGHT.

……5 Mary Jane MATLOCK was born about 1847 in Indiana and died about 1917.

…4 John MATLOCK was born about 1809 in Roane County, Tennessee.  He married (1)Sarah HINKLE on 24 January 1830 in Monroe County, Indiana and died about 1849. He married (2)Jemima SMITH WARD on 28 December 1849, widow of Emanuel WARD.

NOTE: (1)John lived next door to his mother Sarah in the 1830 census. 
(2)Was married twice; first to Sarah Hinkle and then to Jemima. Have also seen her name as Jessamine Ward. In the 1850 census Jemima’s children are listed.
