William MEDLOCK
1. William MEDLOCK was born about 1702 in New Kent County, Virginia and was christened on 19 July 1702 in St Peter's Parrish, New Kent County, Virginia. He is son of John MEDLOCK Sr. and UNKNOWN.  He died before 16 December 1767 in Bedford County, Virginia.  William married (1)Catharine UNKNOWN about 1729 in New Kent County or Goochland, Virginia. William married (2)Elizabeth UNKNOWN before 1762 in Virginia.  OR, was he only married once to Catharine Elizabeth UNKNOWN.

BIRTH: Chr: 19 Jul 1702, St Peter's Parish, New Kent Co, VA; son of John Medlock.

MARRIAGE: (1)Have seen wives as: Elizabeth Unknown (could be Witt, Moore, or Sevier. I'm not sure of either. I know that Catharine is on deeds in Goochland Co, 1735 - 1744. Who is the Catharine? (2)Elizabeth is on the deed in 1762 Bedford Co, VA? Is this a second wife or was her name Catharine Elizabeth?

NOTES:
(1)Some researchers are saying that his mother was Margaret Kent.  But it has been proven by the Mattox family that Margaret Kent married John Mattox in one of the New England states, and that they both died in New Kent County, VA. Some of Our Matlock reserachers are also using their death dates.  Gotta be careful how we assume things when facts are present.
(2)There is a William Matlock in Halifax Co, VA in 1755. Is he the one that was in New Kent Co, Goochland Co, Halifax Co, then finally in Bedford Co? He appeared in these counties at different times. He is not found appearing at the same time in other counties.
(3)William Matlock of Goochland Co, is on deeds with his wife, Catharine relinq her right of dower. This property was sold in 1744. Found in Goochland Co, John Maddox and wife Elizabeth sold their property in 1741 living adjacent to William Medlock. (could John Maddox be be Matlock). Could this be William's brother or father?
(4)William Matlock is the only Matlock to appear in Halifax Co, except Moore Matlock in 1755.  Moore and William are there about the same time. Is this Moore's father or brother?
(5) William Matlock in Goochland Co.... About the same time period John Matlock  in Louisa Co., this surname of Matlock/Medlock is found in Goochland Co.-- one William Matlock patenting land on Byrd Creek ca. 1743.  William Matlock, 190 acs NL in Goochland Co., N side James Riv., W side of the Little Byrd, adj. Joseph Bellenger, Arthur Hopkins & Robert Horsley; 3 Oct 1734, p. 348.  1 pd.  (C&P, V. 4, p. 59-60)..... Later, in the patent of John Douglas, Albemarle Co., the name of William Matlock is mentioned.  Douglas's land was on both sides of Rockfish Creek.  Refer to Pat. Bk 31-733.
