Neo played by Keanu Reeves

In The Matrix, Keanu Reeves plays Thomas A. Anderson a.k.a. "Neo". By day, he works for a large and successful computer programming company. By night, he's a skilled hacker. Late one night, Neo receives a message on his computer that talks about "the matrix". Neo wants to know what this is. Later that night, he meets Trinity, a master hacker who he's only heard of. The next morning, he wakes up to realize that he's late for work. After being yelled at by his boss, Neo receives a package containing a cell phone. He immediately gets a call. The call is from a man named Morpheus who informs his he is being followed by several "agents". Neo tries to escape, but is soon caught by the agents. The agents try to get information out of Neo, but Neo can't talk, literally. The plant a bug on him, and Neo wakes up in his bed, thinking it was all just a dream. He decides to go for a walk in the rain and soon meets up with Trinity and two unknown people. The debug him and take him to meet Morpheus, who gives him a choice. He can either go back home and forget any of this ever happened, or come with them, and know the truth about the world. The truth is that the world has actually been overrun by machines of our own creation. They've created a virtual world for us to live in, while they grow children in large fields. Neo is removed from this virtual world to battle the agents, computer programs that do the bidding of the machines. He also learns that he may be "the one" who can free human kind from their enslavement.
