Danette Moira Lanart-Aldaran

• Former Occupations: Collage Student with a major in Terran History and Competitive gymnast.

• Laran gift and laran training: She has the Aldaran Gift in Full and some of the Alton Gift. Marius taught her some basics after she became deathly ill with a form of Threshold Sickness shortly after her arrival. She turned down an offer to train at Neskaya Tower to be with Connor.
• Politics: She is not to keen on the subject and that is why she fell asleep in her Terran Government classes at school. She is bothered by the medieval mentality of some of the men on the planet, including her twin, but she has learned to accept it.
• Personality: She’s a tomboy with feelings that are easily hurt. She is soft-spoken and always willing to help other people. She does not cry in public unless she is deeply hurt and always fights behind closed doors.
• Strengths: She is loyal and honest. She is also hardworking and friendly. She forgives quickly.
• Weaknesses: She is headstrong at times. She also has a quick fire temper and likes to rush into things without much thought. She can be highly impatient which could cause serious trouble for her.
• Combat training: None, per se, but she was taught how to throw knives by her adopted brother Eric when she was 14. He did this so that she could defend herself if the verbal threats against her life became physical. She brought the dagger with her and she keeps it on her at all times.
• Horseback riding: She fears horses as a result of the fact that she was thrown from one at the age of four. Marius gave her Wind Dancer as a gift and then worked with her to help her overcome those fears so that she can ride. She’d prefer to ride astride then ride sidesaddle any day.
• Appearance: She is a petite five feet tall with small hands and feet. She has a slender build, which makes her look more fragile, then she really is. She has wavy auburn hair that falls to the middle of her back when it is down and in the right light one can see the red highlights in it. Her eyes are a deep brown framed by long eyelashes.
• Romantic relationships: She had a boyfriend while attending school on Terra. His name was Matthew Alexander. He died in a car accident when he was 17. She is now head over heels in love with Connor-Rakhal Ardais. She believes that he is her soul mate and the reason that she is on Darkover.
• Friends: On Terra her best friend was her roommate name Heidi LeSone. On Darkover her best friends are Connor and her brother Marius along with her cousin Andi.
• Pets: She is caring for Marius’s cat named Midnight. She has a hawk named Romily and her horse named Wind Dancer.
• Hobbies: She loves to read and spends a great deal of time in the Library in the Castle. She also enjoys doing genealogy and writing poetry. She keeps a journal for posterity and hates sewing in any form.
• Other Information: Danette was born at Castle Scaravel about five minutes after Marius. Her birth was not easy on her mother Larissa, who died a short time later. Her father, Donal, was heartbroken and made arrangements for her to be raised off world.
  
  Rick and Kate Day adopted her within months of her arrival and her name was changed to Brieanya. Rick worked as a carpenter and Kate was a schoolteacher.
  
  She had a normal life up until her Laran began to develop around the age of 13. She had no idea what to make of her sudden ability to see the future along with the ability to cause harm when she became angry.
  
  As a result of her gifts many people called her a witch, among other things, behind her back. Rick and Kate forbid her to use her gifts and told her that she was evil and as a result she began to fear her gifts.
  
  At the age of 15 a teacher introduced her to the world of Wicca and took her under her wing. Danette soon learned how to control her talents and much more. At the age of 18 she was initiated into Stone Hold, the local Coven.
  
  Shortly after Matt’s death she began to have recurring dreams of a dark haired boy that looked just like her. He introduced himself to her as Marius and kept begging her to come home. The dreams made no sense to her since she believed Terra to be her home.
  
  A month after her initiation into the Coven her adopted father sent her a manila envelope. Inside was a ticket to Cottman IV and her life story as Danette Lanart-Aldaran. She was stunned. Three months later she boarded a ship to Cottman IV to discover the truth. Little did she know that Matt’s sister Marissa, who believed that Danette was the cause of Matt’s death and wanted revenge, was following her!
  
  Upon her arrival at Scaravel she meets her real father and is shocked at how ill he is. He tells her that it is a result of a guilty conciseness. He then in turn introduces Danette to her twin brother Marius. After a week on Darkover Danette sent word to her adopted family that she would not coming back to Terra and that as far as she was concerned Brieanya Day was dead.
