The Mt. Carmel LEO club has made a tremendous debut in the community of Rancho Penasquitos and San Diego! We were featured in the San Diego Union Tribune on March 17, 2001 under the headline, "New Leo Club already making a difference" ---
Congratulations! Our LEO club has made the international spotlight again! We were featured in in the September, 2001 Lions International Magazine! Click here

Our club has raised $730 in two weeks, which will be donated to the September 11th Fund! Thank you to Jennifer Fu, Sharmeen Browarek, and Danielle Gossman for chairing such a successful act of compassion! On October 5, 2001, our local high school paper, the "Mt. Carmel Sun",  featured how numerous clubs on campus raised money and relief aid for the New York attack victims, including the LEO club effort. Also, the Corridor News had the story in its November 15, 2001 issue.

Corridor News Article

On November 21, 2001, the San Diego Union Tribune featured an article about high schools with large populations. Of course, Mt. Carmel, with over 3,500 students, was featured in the article, along with a mention of our Leo club. ---
Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to Chris Keegan, who is moved from Rancho Peñasquitos to Virginia earlier this year. Keegan, 86, is known throughout Penasquitos as one of the most dedicated civic leaders our community has ever had. He moved to Penasquitos in 1971, when it was nothing more than a few houses and a ranch, and he is leaving it with great accomplishments. Keegan's legacy regarding PQ is nothing short of astonishing: he formed the community's first Lions Club, Cub and Boy Scouts, Penasquitos Town Council, and the PQ Little League!!
