DU Badge A Brief History DU Badge

Delta Upsilon International Fraternity is the sixth oldest fraternity in North America. It was founded on November 4, 1834 at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, USA. Thirty men met in the Freshman Recitation Room of Old West College, a building that still stands on the campus of Williams College today. Delta Upsilon is the oldest NON-SECRET, NON-HAZING fraternity in North America. What does this mean? It means that we are completely open to public scrutiny. We have no secret handshakes or rituals. Our initiation ceremony is not held behind closed doors.  In fact, we encourage new members' families and friends to attend and share in the importance of the ceremony. Anything anyone wants to know about us, we'll be glad to tell them. That's because we're proud of who we are and what we stand for.
