    Equalizer

Tweak your audio output with the equalizer. Its operation closely matches that of a equalizer that might be part of your home stereo equipment. This is a 10-band graphic equalizer with frequency controls ranging from 60Hz to 16KHz.

Preamp

The horizontal slider bar on the left side of the Equalizer face plate (labeled "Preamp") is the Preamplification control. This increases or decreases the overall volume of all the frequencies.

For each of the 10 frequencies, moving the bar up increases trebble, while moving it down increases bass.

On

There is an "On" button in the upper right corner of the Equalizer. Clicking it puts any changes you've made to the Equalizer into effect. If this button is not clicked, the track plays with its own, built-in equalizer settings.

Auto

With this button clicked, Winamp automatically loads any specific auto-load presets associated with the selected track.

Presets

Personalize your sound by choosing one of 17 presets, such as "live," "party," or "soft rock."

Presets > Load > Preset

  1. Click the Preset button in the upper left corner of the Equalizer. Choose Load, then Preset. A dialog box appears, displaying the 17 presets.
  2. As you click on different presets, notice the equalizer settings changing. If you can not see the Eqaulizer, drag the Preset dialog box to the side.
  3. Select a preset by clicking it.
  4. Click Load, and the selected preset replaces the current preset.

Advanced Equalizer Functions

The Presets function also allows you to set and save preamp and equalizer settings. You can even save preamp and equalizer settings to match specific tracks. The delete function lets you erase any unwanted eqaulizer settings.

Presets > Save > Preset

  1. First, set the Equalizer to your desired preamp and frequency setting. (If you set frequencies as a track plays, you'll hear the affects.)
  2. Click the Preset button in the upper left corner of the Equalizer. Choose Save, then Preset. A dialog box appears, with a flashing cursur, prompting you to name the setting. Name it and press Save.
Once saved, the preset appears in the full list of presets.

Presets > Save > Auto-load Preset

This function associates an equalizer setting with a specific track.
  1. First, set the Equalizer to your desired preamp and frequency setting. (If you set frequencies as a track plays, you'll hear the affects.)
  2. Click the Preset button in the upper left corner of the Equalizer. Choose Save, then Auto-load Preset.
  3. A dialog box appears, with a flashing cursur, prompting you to name the setting. Name it and press Save.
Once an auto-load preset is saved, the preset automatically loads when the track it is associated with (the one playing while the auto-load preset was created) is played, as long as the Auto button is clicked.

Presets > Save > Default

This function lets you change the default Equalizer settings.
  1. First, set the Equalizer to your desired preamp and frequency setting. (If you set frequencies as a track plays, you'll hear the affects.)
  2. Click the Preset button in the upper left corner of the Equalizer. Choose Save, then Default.
This overwrites the present default setting. Each time you repeat this process, the default setting is overwritten.

Presets > Delete > Preset

This lets you erase unwanted presets.
  1. Click the Preset button in the upper left corner of the Equalizer. Choose Delete, then Preset.
  2. The full list of presets appears. Click on the preset(s) you want to delete and press Delete.
