Unlike past years, our school has now changed class day.  A big reason is because of the building project restraints.
In the past, class day was held during normal school hours with the awards in the morning and the activities in the afternoon. Now this year, things have been changed. One reason is because students never stay anymore; they skip afternoon activities.  Teachers also didn't want class day anymore, so they went for the idea of the half day only.  Another reason, says Courtney Diefenbach, is so we do not disturb the middle school because class day is being held on the front lawn due to the building project in the back.
This year's activities have been changed.  We only have two main events, volleyball, which teachers must pay five dollars in order to play, and golf, which is three shots for a dollar.  Small snacks and beverages will be served as well.
This year may be the only exception for class day being held on the front lawn, so let,s hope that the project in the back will be finished for the future activities.

NEWS by Amber Wood
I recently interviewed Mr. Brian Pisano on many different issues. Some being why he wanted to be come a teacher, to the recent budget cuts. He had many different answers for different questions.
A graduate of SUNY Binghamton, with a degree in history, he is now trying to finish up his Masters Degree in NYC. I asked Mr. Pisano why he wanted to become a teacher, and he said it was because his parents were also teachers. Mr. Pisano said that he likes to help people, and thinks that teaching is one of the most important jobs, and that careers are sometimes built around teachers. I asked why he decided to become a social studies teacher, and he says it is one of his favorite subjects.
A fan of extracurricular activities, Mr. Pisano likes to play tennis, ski, act, cook, travel, read, and camp. Mr. Pisano has had many past jobs, before he became a teacher, from a sports director to a waiter. He was also an aspiring film director. As a teacher, he likes the creative aspect of creating lessons and dislikes discipline. Mr. Pisano wants his students to be able to create their own independent political opinions.
On the subject of the budget cuts, and the talk of people like himself being cut from the staff, he hopes that the local politicians and community members will understand the importance of education, and spend their tax dollars wisely. Mr. Pisano hopes to continue teaching at MCS next year as well.
