My Martial Arts training started in March of 1988 with the Zen Do Kai Martial Arts organization. My instructor at the time was Sensei Ed Sostak. We trained from September to June each year due to our training location. I had recieved the rank of green belt with two stripes. In 1991 my then instructor had started to pursue a new career and closed the school.

I went across the street and met with my now current instructor Joe Poppo. I remember not really being sure about coming there. Kyo Sa Poppo at the time told me to come watch a class or two then make a decision. After seeing just 1 class he taught I was hooked. I started training as a brand new white belt with the Moo Duk Kwan Academy in March of 1991. This was the begining of a great journey. The passion my now current instructor had for Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan was very contagious. I recieved my 1st Dan in April of 1996. Recieved my 2nd Dan In April 1998. Tested one year later for Kyo Sa (certified instructor). In April of 2001 I tested for 3rd Dan. I had to retest the kicking part of the test, but did fine during the retest. In January of 2005 I tested for both Sa Dan and Sa Bom. I am currently awaiting the results.
