The mission of the Sniper School Mecosta County MI is to train rural designated marksmen, scout snipers,
& exchange information on sniping.

Sniper School & Sniper Section are located at MILITIA Mecosta County MI 9th Brigade 5th Division Headquarters level with one trained sniper section within the brigade. Sniper Section sniper team(s) are trained to be employed to gather information, deliver precision rifle fire support to the brigade, rifle company, rifle platoon(s) & are capable of conducting independent actions.

Sniper Section Headquarters Element is responsible for organizing, training, & supervising the sniper team(s) to operate effectively as rural scout(s) designated marksmen & sniper(s) to conduct independent action(s) in civilian environment(s) during operation(s) other than war.
Sniper Section Headquarters Element conducts basic & advanced rural sniper courses, basic & advanced  urban sniper courses, & Sniper Section Leaders Sniper Employment Officer courses for MILITIA 5th Division MI.

Sniper Section operates as rural scout(s) designated marksmen & sniper(s) within Mecosta County Michigan 9th Brigade 5th Division boundaries.
The Sniper Section consists of a 2 man Section Headquarters Element & 4 two man teams for a total of 10 members.
The basic organization is a 2 man sniper team, & 4 man fire team trained to conduct independent actions in civilian environments during operations other than war. Using the organization of a 2 man sniper team & 4 man fire team the designated marksman, scout sniper teams are less likely to be detected, simplifies operational tactics & logistics.
Each team is given the maximum amount of freedom in planning, information gathering, reporting & conducting actions.

Each member of the Sniper Section is trained to operate alone should the mission(s) & action(s) require it. The member(s) are at their best when they operate in 2 man team(s) & four man team(s) made up of member(s) who know & trust each other. This provides an advantage as most of the training is done on member(s) property allowing them to have practiced defensive plan(s) of their property(s). The member(s) action(s) arouse less suspicion since the member(s) are training in small team(s) & are normally seen together in other activities through out the year providing a cover for their action(s).
By operating in Mecosta County MI ensures that the member(s) know & are familiar with the area in which they conduct action(s) are known to the local citizen(s) which helps the member(s) to "blend in".

Sniper & Scout observing in a prone position while conducting a security halt before advancing forward during a team stalk. Spring, fall, & winter provide the best times of year for observing from the prone position. During summer ground vegetation restricts prone observation but aids in concealment while conducting actions.
