Akai Hoshi written by: Setsuna illustrated by: Usagi and Mina |
A cloaked man walked silently through the street, completely invisible to the world. His clothes were not fitting for this time and place. But since no one could see him as a human it didn't matter. He wroe a very short tank top of black fabric that was just short of covering his ribs. Multiple black belts decorated with metal-ringed holes criss-crossed his body from his chest to the twin belts that held up his baggy black pants around his shapely hips. Knee-high black boots with white buckles adorned his slender lower legs and feet. A black cloak completed the look, with the hood pulled up to partically hide his pale face and to keep his long black hair in place. Yellow eyes watched the world go by him as he walked. Red lips occasionally turned up in a smile when little kids would run past him, hurrying to get to school on time. His name is Inuki. To everyone he is a black labrador puppy. But to Kira, his seventh grade master, he's an eightteen year old boy. Only his master and other creatures like him could see him as a human. Inuki walked down the sidewalk, lost in thought. A hand reached out of nowhere and tapped on his shoulder. He smiled, thinking it was his young master wanting to tell him something before she went to school for the day. He turned around and was greeted by an unfamiliar face. "Hello! Its such a nice day out. Why are you out here all by yourself?" A man about three or four years older than him asked. Inuki froze. 'Is he talking to me? He can't be! No one but Kira can see me....' he thought, his eyes glued to the face before him. "What's the matter? Are you not feeling well?" the man asked him, concern coloring his tanned face. Inuki took a step back. 'He can see me!' his mind screamed. Fear struck his heart and he turned to run across the street. As he got to the opposing lane, a huge semi thundered toward him. "Watch out!" warned a deep voice. Just as he turned too late, he felt something collide with his side and then..... Nothing. @//~~~/~~~~ At Kouu's Place It took a couple of seconds defore Inuki realized that his eyes were indeed open. THe sight that he beheld was not what it should be. It was, in fact, the complete opposet. The street was gone. On cars. No people going on their daily routines. Even the huge semi that was about to run him over was gone. In its place was something quite unexpected but not unwelcomed. True, he was lying on his back. Although what he was resting on seemed to be made of cool silk instead of rough asphalt. Fluffy pillows stuffed full of feathers cushioned his aching head in place of a street curb. A cool breeze blew in from an open window, gently caressing his pale exposed skin with icy fingers. In a panic he sat up, patting down his body, feeling around his neck for his cloak clasp. Nothing. His cloak was missing. It couldn't be gone! Without it, he felt naked. Slight tremors wracked his thin frame. 'Must find it!' his mind yelled at him as the tremors grew in force, making his head throb in time with his heartbeat. Shaking hands blindly searched for a cloak that wasn't present. Bleary eyes gradually focused then faded before focusing once more. All he could decifer from the shdaowy objects illuminated by the moonlight shining through was a dresser, a large chair with something thrown over it, and a grand piano shiloetted next to the french doors that were slightly opened. On wobbling legs he rose from the comfort of the bed. His head pounded everytime his bare feet came in contact with the chilled hardwood floor. 'Only a few more steps. Just a few more.' One more step allowed him to collapse next to the chair. Inuki leaned his body against the huge winged-back chair, enjoying the effect the wood and leather had on his burning face. While one hand held on to the armrest the other found what he was searching for. In the seat of the chair was his outfit and cloak cleaned and neatly folded. Directly in front of the chair sttod his boots, freshly polished. Inuki smiled as he sighed with relief. With particed ease, he put his pants, shirt, and belts back on. He quickly unfolded his cloak. Just as he was about to pull it over his shoulders, an unseen door creaked open, letting a bright light impose on the blissful darkness. The light blinded poor Inuki and causing him to freeze in his tracks. There in the doorway stood the man from before. He slowly walked into the room, closing the door behind him. The tall man gazed down into Inuki's wide eyes. Poor Inuki nearly got lost when he returned the gaze, drowning in the chocolate eyes. Beautifully sculpted lips moved, forming words maybe, but the roaring in his ears drowned out whatever was being said. A strong, lean body lay encased in tight brown spandex moved towards him. Quickly Inuki stood up. The sudden movement caused his cloak to entangle around his body. He struggled to release himself from the fabric as the stranger stepped closer to him. A wrong shift on his arm made his body sway. The pounding in his head increased. He grew lightheaded and his knees finally buckled under the strain. Black spots danced before his eyes as he began his decent towards the nice hard wooden floor. Just as he was about to kiss the floor, strong arms grabbed him around the waist and across the chest. The black spots and light headedness faded as the arms held him, giving him time to slow down his breathing. A gloved hand brushed long bangs away from his sweaty forehead. "You really shouldn't be up right now," a voice, a beautiful voice, whispered into his ear. The arms gathered his body close. Ever so slowly he was turned around and lifted upwards. "That head of your's really took a beating the other day. I'm surprised you woke up tonight." The arms gently placed his now weary, cloak-entangled body back on the bed. Soft silky bedsheets once again molded to his slim body. |
