(Personal:)
Hi I'm Herbie Mathis, born February 2nd, 1959 in Oak Hill, Florida to Charles and Estelle Mathis. Oldest of five children, I am a '77 graduate of New Smyrna Beach Senior High where I was a member of "1001 Voices." I now reside in Summerville, South Carolina where I am  employed by J. W. Aluminum and for amusement I collect Pez dispensers. I also have a home recording studio. (Stargazer Promotions) I earned an Associates degree in Business from Limestone College on-line.
My son Jessie was born in 1981 during my first marriage. Later in 1994, I met my second wife Darlene and we were married in '95. We adopted Alice in '98. Jessie has a son, Peyton.

(Musical Experience:)
I started singing in church at age twelve at the insistance of my mother. At age fifteen I joined a country music group called the C J Express, a group of older men who taught me a lot about live performance. I learned to play guitar in high school and picked up a few things from the talented musicians that I hung around and played with. I took voice lessons from Andrew Terry, a.k.a. the Voice Builder.
In later years, I was a member of a number of diverse musical groups such as; White Stone, Burning Desire, Stargazer, and Saddle Up. (I managed and did all the booking for Saddle Up.)
I got burned out on the whole music thing and took many years off during which I did not play at all. Later I rekindled my desire to play by putting together a CD of songs that I had written. "Which Way to Success." (available upon request)

(The Present:)
I met Lynne Scoggan (then Brown) at the home of Bill Long who was trying to assemble a guitar ensemble for the Greater Summerville Music Forum. Lynne was singing in a band called "Red Fish Blue Fish" with Bill at the time along with her now husband Mike Scoggan and son Ryan Brown.  When the Fish broke up, Lynne and I started jamming with Bill informally and then Lynne and I decided to form our own duo. Thus,
Mellow Yellow was born. It has taken off a lot quicker than I thought it would and I'm having the time of my life.

(The Future:)
My desire is to someday manage talent and I am learning a lot just by working with Lynne in keeping ourselves booked and on top of the game. As long as it is fun, we'll keep doing it.
