Police Hold Man Following Fatal Stabbing
POLICE HOLD MAN FOLLOWING FATAL STABBING
Police were holding a 50 year old Dayton man on suspicion of homicide Saturday following the fatal stabbing of Wayne Slack, 30, of 1339 E. Third St.
Police said Donald K. Reams of 22 E. 5th st stabbed Slack between the buttocks with a five inch butcher knife following an argument at Reams home.
The stabbing occurred about 4PM on the sidewalk in front of the E 5th street address. Slack ran about 40 feet then collasped in a pool of blood within several steps of the busy 5th and Main street corner.
Slack was taken to Miami Valley Hospital where he died four hours later. Coroner A.P. McDonald said Slack died from loss of blood.
Being held as material witnesses were Mrs. Anna Allamon 23, of 65 Huffman Ave. and Reams wife Treva, 40.
Police said the four had been drinking at Reams home when an argument began. Reams tols police that Slack pinched Mrs. Reams with a pair of pliers and left. Reams then followed Reams to the sidewalk and stabbed him police report.
Born in Decatur, TN, Slack had been a Dayton resident six years. He was an employee of Muth Brothers, Inc.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Belle Slack, of Adkin, South Carolina, three sisters, Mrs Burley Ellis of Akin, Mrs Ruby Henderson of Dalton, GA, Mrs. Henry Newberry of Lima and four brothers Paul of Akin, Eulliss of Cleveland, TN, Ray and Blaine both of Dayton.
Funeral services will be conducted at Cleveland, TN. Burial will be there. Friends may call at the Hoyne Funeral Home, 1817 E. 3rd St, until 10PM Saturday.
