Dear Elizabeth, Saw your website which included my gg grandparents, Richard Dann & Susannah (Gilbert), and wondered what is your connection.
You also included as one of their offspring, an Ellen Dann (sic) who coincidently arrived on the same ship ("Norfolk") in 1860. Her maiden name was either Dunne (marriage certificate, 1860) or Dunn (children's birth certificates) and she probably died in 1919 at Ballarat

Thu, 10 Aug 2006 Dear Elizabeth, Another thing I noticed on your website was the arrival of a James Dann in July 1865 on the "Ocean Empress". The marriage of Sarah Ann Dann to John Taylor on 1/12/1863 at Castlemaine, however, was witnessed by her brother James but I don't know when he arrived in Victoria.
Also, Richard Dann's mother was Mary Abnett and not Sarah as on his death certificate. Her mother's name was Sarah though.

Hi Elizabeth

I recently stumbled across your excellent website and found it most interesting as both my parents families lived in the central victorian region.

However I would like to make a small correction to one entry in that the Robert Woodburn (my grandfather) who married Jane Deering (my grandmother) was not the son of John Woodburn and Barbara Young as stated.

He was born on the goldfields at Fryerstown in 1857 or 1858. His parents were Hugh Woodburn, a bootmaker and Janet Welch and I understand that they are both buried at the Tarnagulla cemetery.

After my grandfather married Jane Deering in 1908 when he was 50 years of age they ran the general store at Arnold until it was sold in 1940. After that they retired to Eddington where they are now buried.

They had five daughters as listed in your site, my mother being Rosetta Margaret Woodburn who passed away in 1999. All her sisters are also deceased.

I have Woodburn index to 1920, and see that Hugh Woodburn died at Tarnagulla 1908 #15545 aged 88, son of Margaret Dunlop and John Woodburn
so I checked the IGI - http://www.familysearch.org
and find Hugh Woodburn born 27 JAN 1820 Christening: 30 JAN 1820 Galston, Ayr, Scotland and son of HUGH WOODBURN Mother: MARGARET DUNLOP
I have also looed up the second Robert, found his marriage, and two daughters born 1916 and 1919.
