William Free Immigration: Dep.: 10 May 1853 Place: Southampton, England via "Lady Kennaway" and Arr.: 15 Aug 1853 Place: Melbourne, Australia as Free Settler.

William Free born 2 Mar 1829 son of Mary Finkell and Samuel Free wed 16 Nov 1848 at All Saints Church of England, Haslingfield, to Louisa Chapman 1831 - 2 Sep 1853 #337 daughter of Rebecca Daley and George Chapman of Cambridge, came August 1853 on the Lady Kennaway. Their baby died at sea, before he was named. Louisa died aged 23 of chronic diarrhoea in Upper Hawthorn on 2 September 1853, 15 days after she had landed in the colony. William who was present at the death signed her death certificate with a cross. She was buried the next day in the Melbourne General Cemetery. Their son John 1850 - 13 January 1854 #273 died the next year aged 4, leaving William aged 25 and daughter Rebecca aged 5 who wed 1875 #710 to George Collett born in Tasmania

Elizabeth Flavell was born in the village of Landbeach in Cambridgeshire in England on 20 November 1840. She was the eldest daughter of William and Maria Flavell (nee Phillips). William and Maria and their family emigrated to Victoria on the THAMES in around 1855 in order for William to work for a Charles L. Swanston on his sheep station at Inverleigh.

The Thames arrived Oct 1855 with Assisted British Immigrants including William Flavell 50, Maria Flavell 39, Eliza Flavell 14, Phoebe Flavell 12, Martha Flavell 10, William Flavell 8, John Flavell 3 and Harriet Flavell 1
