I found where Lydia Brown was married to a William Worthy. Lydia and William had a son William James Worthy who married a Emmeline Wood in 1881.
I thought you would like to know what happened to William James Worthy or Possum Worthy as he was known. After he left Emmeline he married my gg aunt Margaret Kettler on the 4th May 1908 at Beaconsfield Methodist Church. Margaret had been married three times before and her maiden name was John. She came out from Wales in 1855 with her parents and two brothers.
William and Margaret lived at Blackwood Hill 13 miles from Beaconsfield on a proprty owned by a Mr G T Eddie. On this propery in January 1920 William James Worthy shot and killed Margaret then set fire to the house. He was taken to the Beaconsfield Court house where he hung himself a few days later.
William apparently attacked Margarets granddaughter so that is why he shot Margaret as Margaret must have found out. I have all the newspaper clippings and details of the murder etc if you are interested. William also has a record for Larceny back in !887 or 1889.
William James Worthy died on the 25th of January 1920 and is buried in the Beaconsfield Cemetery as is my gg aunt Margaret.
Regards Rhonda Rose...

Hi there ELizabeth,

I was browsing the web for more information about my family connections with the Supply River Methodist Church and came across your sites.

I'm the granddaughter of James Robert Brown and his wife Maida (nee Cato) James Robert Brown was the son of Peter Brown and Caroline Stonehouse. I didn't have any of the family history other than knowing my great grandmother was "a Stonehouse". According to my late father (Paul Cato Brown) there were "no convicts" in the family and his mother would have been shocked to know of any!!!

She would have been even more shocked had she learnt the background of my mother.

My mother was adopted soon after she was born when her mother died within hours and Mum was adopted by her mother's step uncle and his wife, James Jesse Stroud and Sarah Stroud (nee Gatley).

Mum's maternal grandfather was Edmund (Ned) Oxenbridge who with his brothers was mining for gold in Queenstown and also running a brick works in Invercargill. Ned's 1st wife died after giving birth to the 3rd child (who was stillborn) Ned was living in northern NSW on the Oxenbridge family gold claim in the Tia region. Ned didn't remarry for about 15 years by which time the family had moved to Queenstown NZ. His daughter Lillian married William Gower and had six children - the youngest was my mother.

William took the older children back to Tasmania after Lillian died as his mother had offered to help him raise the children. His grandmother was Dolly (Briggs) Dalrymple who in turn was a grand daughter of the aboriginal chief Mannalargenna.

Great website thanks for putting it online!

Cheers
Ainslie Pyne (nee Brown)

Hi, I am very pleased that you have been able to find my pages helpful. The Kerrison family is very numerous, and some extremely interesting people have fallen in love with members, married them and so made their family stories available to be researched. My cut-off dates are 1920 for births and now 1942 for marriages, as that is where public records end. Do you mind if I put some of your letter on the Brown page - fits easily below the list of Peter Brown's children. I do not want to cause hurt, but I do want to make information available. I code the email addresses to hide them from web nasties.
