Unclear who Abram is the son of - The Family tree I was given, compiled by P.M.Buckley, 2003 suggests
The Gartside family origins are in Saddleworth near Oldham England - James Gibson Gartside goes back to Henry Gartside died 1663 at Denshaw Saddleworth. The family were all Yeoman farmers up till the 1800s.
John Gartside of BrimmyCroft and later of Castlehill Cote, Yeoman, born 12 Sep 1712, died 31 Jan 1788, wed 7 Dec 1734 to Anna Scholefield dau of Francis Scholefield of Castleshaw, yeoman, b 30 Sep 1709, died 13 Sep 1796 aged 88 years
1. James Gartside Gartside 11 Dec 1734 - 5 June 1778 inherits Castlehill Cote from Will of Uncle Edmund and sells it 13 Dec 1768 to William Armitage.
