Hi Elizabeth,
I am researching my husband's family history and he is a direct descendant of William and Clara. I was checking out your website and I note that you have Clara's parents listed as Reuben and Susanna Ford. However on William and Clara's marriage certificate (I have a copy) Clara's parents are listed as William Ford and Maria Steel (or Steels) who were married 11 December 1817 at St Martin Westminster London. Clara was christened on 27 April 1836 at St Sepulchre London. She had two brothers, who also headed to Victoria - Henry Bayless Ford d.1893 Northcote, Vic. and George Wheeler Ford d.1870 aged 48 in Victoria.
My husband Michael Perry's G Grandfather was William George Yardley b.11 October 1861 Camp Castlemaine (we have his original birth certificate). Mike's Grandfather was Ernest William Yardley b.22 Sept 1888 South Yarra, and Mike's Mother was Lillian Yvonne Yardley b.26 June 1920 Sth. Melbourne. Ernest had quite a varied career and was one of the original 50 RAAF members. He also was personal chauffeur to The Duke and Duchess of York when they came here for their 1927 tour.

Second letter
I have a copy of shipping list for the Elizabeth arrived Melbourne 18 July 1853. On board were Margaret Ford, Domestic Servant, Middlesex aged 44, engaged by Robert ? Benevolent Asylum, and Clara Ford, Domestic Servant, Middlesex, aged 19, Gone with her Relations. I was wondering if this may relate to our Clara.
I have a copy of William Yardley's death certificate and he died at Yarra Bend Lunatic Asylum. The informant on his death certificate was Constable W Jones from Northcote Police Station who was present at William's inquest which may account for inaccurate information re his mother. William's mother was definitely Elizabeth Yardley (nee Flight).

Youard

John Angel Youard was born 13 Apr 1839 and baptised 13 May 1839 at St Martins Birmingham Warwickshire, 3rd child of Maria Wadham and John Youard. He came to WA as a convict aged 14 in 1857 on the Nile, arriving at Fremantle on 1 Jan 1858, and received his Free Pardon on 14 Apr 1869
John wed 7 Apr 1860 to Martha Jones and the family returned to Manchester about 1870 for a few years, then in Aug 1876 the family took employment on the Daylight to receive their passage to Fremantle. John died 8 Oct 1903 and his wife Martha died 11 Mar 1924 and both were buried in the Eastern Road Cemetery in Geraldton, West Australia
