James and Ellen's first child, Mary Anne was born in UK, then they arrived at Adelaide South Australia on the Caucasian, 25 April, 1853.
Their second child, Rosanna, was born in Adelaide 13 Aug 1853.

The family travelled overland to the gold fields of Tarnagulla, Victoria and ten more children were born. They spent several years in the same tent city as Sarah and George, so were able to help Sarah when George died.
