An angel at peace, I know she must be.
For all those many years on the news
Her face has been haunting to me.

I have cried for her so many tears.
Remembering so well, that terrible day,
When that bad man took her away.

She was just playing in her yard,
When he stopped to drag her in the car.
So that day began her family‘s ordeal.

While they waited hoping for the best.
Asking so many pleas for her safe return,
But so sadly this was never to be.

Dear God, the latest news was the worst,
In that remote place this child was found.
And she has been with You all along.

Closure to this family is surely a sad truth.
May they be blessed with Your comfort now,
Knowing this sweet little angel is at peace.

This poem was inspired by the abduction and murder
Of a child near my home. This little girl was playing
In her grandmother’s yard with her younger cousin
When a man drove up and dragged her in his car.
The police was able to determine a suspect from the
Cousin’s description of the automobile the man was
Driving, a known child predator. They searched his cars
And property looking for clues and they finally got him
To confess to the abduction but he insisted he let the
Child go after sexual assaulting her. Everyone knew he
Was lying about letting her go but since they couldn’t
Find the body they had to prosecute him for the
Abduction, and since he had other convections as a child
Predator they were able to put him in prison for life.
Then after five years, he was in prison, the little girl’s
Remains was finally found in a very remote area which
Had been searched several time, but because of the
Vastness, the body wasn’t found. I wrote this poem
When they found this little angel. I hope the laws will get
More strict with these child predators so our children
Will be safer in the future. This was a poem I didn’t
Enjoy writing but I feel we must keep awareness of this
Problem so we can pressure our lawmakers for the laws
Needed to prevent this from happening to other children.
God bless the children and keep them from harm.
