There
is an old lighthouse by the sea. It brings
back many childhood memories to me, Of those
many days when Dad and I sailed, On the deep
blue ocean as the waves swelled.
If she
could talk, I know she would tell, Of long ago,
when the sea, mighty ships did sail. And of the
sailors who welcomed her bright light, As they
approached the rugged shore late at night.
Today I will take my child to see,
That old lighthouse that means so much to me.
He shall see her great beauty as she
towers, And together we will go sailing for
hours and hours.
I will tell him the
wonderful stories of gone by days, When I
could see her clearly threw the afternoon haze,
And how God had bless her with that great
task, Her beacon did guide all lost sailors in
the past.
